Lavrov: If the West wants to fight on the battlefield - it will be on the battlefield

💬 "It is their right if they want to fight on the battlefield - it will be on the battlefield," (Lavrov said these words within the walls of the Federation Council as part of consultations on his reappointment as Foreign Minister.)

The minister also mentioned the upcoming conference in Switzerland on Ukraine, to which Russia was not invited. Lavrov said that the conference...

💬 "...boils down to once again formulating an ultimatum to Russia. You know, like a colonel - a pedagogical advice. They kicked him out (out the door - "RG"), and decided everything among themselves, then they summoned him and announced the verdict." (Lavrov believes that) "this is no way to talk to anyone, much less us."

Permalink Hundreds of civilians are fleeing under the gunfire as the Israeli occupation army is invading Jabalia refugee camp

Palestinian prisoners were handcuffed for so long that their limbs died and had to be amputated, three Israeli whistleblowers who spoke to US media revealed, detailing a litany of alleged abuses against prisoners held by Israel in the Sde Teiman military base. | The whistleblowers quoted by The Hill said that the base has two parts, one which includes “intense physical restraint” and the other acting as a field hospital where prisoners are strapped to beds, blindfolded, put in diapers and fed through a tube.  Prisoners were routinely beaten by guards the whistleblowers say, but the torture wasn’t a part of any kind of interrogation program, according to the news agency. “(The beatings) were not done to gather intelligence. They were done out of revenge,” the whistleblower claimed. “It was punishment for what they did on October 7 and punishment for behavior in the camp.”  A prisoner from the camp claimed that even talking to another prisoner was enough to earn a beating by Israeli guards. [...] The accusations by the whistleblowers and prisoners match the accusations made in a letter addressed to top Israeli officials by an Israeli doctor who worked at the facility. He described a facility where limb amputations caused by consistent handcuffing were unfortunately “a routine event.”

Permalink At Least 22 Civilians Killed, Wounded In Ukrainian Attack On Russia’s Belgorod (Videos)

At least 22 civilians were killed or wounded on May 12 after Kiev forces shelled the Russian region of Belgorod, which is located on the border with Ukraine. | “The city of Belgorod and the Belgorod Region were subjected to a massive shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” the region’s governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, wrote on Telegram. Gladkov added that “an entire section of an apartment building – from the tenth to the first floor – collapsed as a result of a direct hit by a shell” in the Kharkovskaya Mountain residential area of Belgorod city.  Videos from the scene showed a whole section of the ten-story building collapsing as a result of a strike and first responders digging through the rubble. The Telegram news channel 112 said that at least 20 people could be trapped under the rubble. It added that residents were being evacuated from the apartment block, as there is danger that its other sections may also collapse. There have so far been no official announcements about casualties, but Mash Telegram news channel reported that at least seven people were killed and 15 others wounded in the Ukrainian attack.

Permalink US senator calls on Israel to nuke Gaza, says US made the right call against Japan

US Senator Lindsey Graham says Israel should drop nuclear bombs on Gaza to end the war and do “whatever” it deems necessary in the aggression, drawing a comparison to when the US dropped atomic bombs on Japan during World War II. | Graham, a South Carolina Republican, suggested that Israel would be right to flatten the besieged Gaza Strip simply because the US did it to the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 and killed more than 200,000 people.

💬 “Why is it OK for America to drop two nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end their existential threat war? Why was it OK for us to do that? I thought it was OK,” he told NBC News on Sunday, “So, Israel, do whatever you have to do to survive ... Whatever you have to do.”

Graham also urged US President Joe Biden to provide the occupying regime with more bombs. [...] The remarks came days after Biden claimed that he had halted a weapons shipment to Israel and that he might continue to do so if the regime launched a full-scale assault on Rafah, the southernmost Gaza city where 1.5 million Palestinians are sheltering.

Permalink UN Security Council calls for ‘immediate, independent’ probe into Gaza mass graves

The United Nations Security Council has called for an immediate and independent investigation into reported mass graves containing hundreds of Palestinian dead bodies near hospitals in the Gaza Strip amid the Israeli regime’s months-long aggression on the besieged territory. | In a statement on Friday, the 15-member council expressed their “deep concern over reports of the discovery of mass graves in and around the Nasser and al-Shifa medical facilities in Gaza, where several hundred bodies, including women, children and older persons, were buried.”  The members underlined the need for “accountability” for any Israeli violations of international law and called for “unimpeded access to all locations of mass graves in Gaza to conduct immediate, independent, thorough, comprehensive, transparent and impartial investigations.”  The statement comes as some 400 bodies have been recovered at the Nasser Hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip while around 300 bodies have been discovered at al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.
