Permalink EU nation backs Chinese peace plan

The ongoing conflict between Moscow and Kiev is bad for both Russia and Ukraine, as well as “the whole world,” Budapest believes | Hungary’s government supports Beijing’s peace plan for the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Prime Minister Viktor Orban told parliament on Monday. The 12-point plan released by China last week calls for resuming peace talks and respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations while condemning unilateral sanctions. 💬 “We also consider China’s peace plan important and support it,” Orban told the lawmakers. In his half-hour-long speech, Orban insisted that the ongoing conflict was “bad for Ukrainians, Russians, Hungarians, Europe, and it is becoming increasingly clear [that] it is bad for the whole world.” The prime minister then maintained that Budapest should stay out of the conflict, as was decided through a “national consultation.”

Permalink This is how Fosen could happen

Campaigners from Nature and Youth and Norwegian Samirs Riksforbund Nuorat
have been protesting against the Ministry of Oil and Energy in Oslo since Feb. 23,
2023. The reason for the action is that the wind turbines at Fosen, which the
Supreme Court has said are illegal, have not been demolished. The picture shows

In October 2021, Norway’s Supreme Court ruled that two wind plants at Fosen are violating Sami rights. However, the wind farm is still operating. | On 11 October 2021, Norway’s Supreme Court unanimously found this to be in violation of Article 27 of the Convention on Civil and Political Rights, and considered the wind power plants to «deny the right to cultural exercise». The permit for the wind power plant was thus declared invalid by the court. The Supreme Court did not determine what should be done with the invalid power plant. The government says it is working to make the invalid permit compliant with SP Art 27, which is why it has not yet been dismantled or moved. The continuous violation of human rights has now lasted for 500 days with no sign of resolution.  The business model of the wind power industry has taken a shortcut through laws and regulations to obtain permits to build and produce wind power plants. The number and size of offenses this entails varies from area to area. The Sami community should have been contacted by the developer in advance to obtain their consent, but the process was ignored, along with the information of the neighbors and other people with rights in the planning area. The municipalities should have checked in advance which laws and regulations could come into conflict with permission in this planning area, but this was not properly done due to an unclear division of com-petence.  Norwegian energy authorities should have made sure that all rights, laws and regulations were properly managed either by themselves or by the municipality. Instead, neither the municipality nor the energy authorities have carried out the coordination obligation of the legislation, and several breaches of the law have occurred.  As a result, the wind power plants at Fosen were built illegally, they are too big with too much noise and with too much negative impact on the grazing areas, on the reindeer and the opportunity to run reindeer herding. Reindeer herding and wind power plants are incompatible, and cannot exist together.

500 days of human rights violations are enough! | NSR Nuorat, the youth organisation of the Norwegian Sami National Association (NSR), and Nature and Youth are now marking 500 days of human rights violations. In protest against the Norwegian authorities' delay of the Fosen verdict, they have been staying in the premises of the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy since 23 February. Eleven Supreme Court judges support the unanimous Fosen ruling that Article 27 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights was violated when Fosen Vind destroyed the last winter grazing areas of the Sør-Fosen Sijte and Nord-Fosen Siida.

Permalink Norway Mulls Using US Floating Nuclear Power Plants Along Its Coast

Having launched the world’s first floating nuclear power plant, the Sturgis, in the 1960s, the US currently has no active floating NPPs, only projects to bring them to the market. As of now, Russia is in the lead in the practical development of floating NPPs, having launched one in 2019, which has since served in the Chukchi Sea. | A group of Norwegian businesses are in dialogue with US companies that lease out floating nuclear power plants, managing director of the Federation of Norwegian Industries Stein Lier-Hansen said during a power conference in the city of Stavanger.  The back-ground to these plans is a possibly strained power situation in several places across the Nordic country, which, according to Lier-Hansen, must be remedied by "exploring all possibilities."  Across the entire country, companies are queuing to connect to the power grid in a recent push for sustainability. Businesses ranging from fish farms and seafood production to electric car chargers, slaughterhouses, hydrogen production, charging facilities and data centers need huge amounts of electricity. Many of them are located in northern Norway. In this region alone, an additional 1,400 megawatts of power is needed.

Permalink Swedish warplanes, pilots headed to Ukraine?

Could Sweden’s ‘unique’ Gripen fighters help Ukraine? | Earlier this month Volodymyr Zelensky said that, after tanks, fighter planes are “the next level of our cooperation.” Some commentators have said that Sweden’s own fighters are the best option, since they are tougher and easier to operate than other western jets. Two proponents of sending Swedish fighters to Ukraine include British MP Bob Seely and analyst Justin Bronk from the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), who both argued that Swedish JAS Gripen fighter jets would be better than British Typhoon jets.  Air power expert at Sweden’s Defence University, Arash Heydarian Pashakhanlou, agreed that the Gripen is simple to maintain and only needs a few people to be refuelled and armed with advanced missiles, and that it can use short runways. The jets can also be dispersed out over a wider area to make them less vulnerable to attacks, he told The Local. He added that the Gripen is “developed with Russia in mind and is therefore very suitable for the situation that Ukraine finds itself in today.”

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev reiterated Monday his country's threat of nuclear war if the West's supply of arms to Ukraine continues. | The warning in an op-ed piece in the state-run newspaper Izvestiya was the second time in three weeks the key aide to President Vladimir Putin has invoked the nuclear option in an effort to deter the U.S.-led NATO alliance from arming Ukraine. Medvedev, who was president from 2008 to 2012 and currently serves as the deputy chairman of the powerful Security Council of Russia, dangled the prospect of talks while demanding shipments of arms to Ukraine be halted immediately. Echoing comments by Putin yesterday Medvedev wrote that 💬 any existential threat to Russia would not be decided on the front in Ukraine, but would spiral into an existential threat to human civilization, repeating the refrain "we don't need a world without Russia."

Permalink The Point of No Return

Dmitry Medvedev (Дмитрий Медведев) | The Point of No Return | (Extract) The point of no return can be considered to be two dates, actually. The first one was in the autumn of 2008 when the Western world supported the aggression of Georgia against the Ossetian people and praised a jerk, a drug addict and adventurer who, was later rejected not only by his own country but also by another one, which he cowardly ran away from. The aggressor was then rebuffed swiftly and firmly.  The second turning point was the spring of 2014, when the people of Crimea expressed their will in a legal referendum, returning to their historic homeland forever. This provoked a frenzied, impotent hysteria in the Western world that lasts to this day. Their convulsions are fueled by caveman Russophobia and a desire to create a new Frankenstein in the form of Ukraine - a special "anti-Russia" that our president wrote about. What else is there to say? Only one thing: the wise forerunners of the present brainless western politicians spoke so: Deus quos vult perdere dementat prius - whom God wants to punish, He deprives of his mind first. It is this insane hysteria, the obsessive desire to tear our country apart, that eventually led to a special military operation.(MORE)(Translation: yandex.ru & DeepL.com)

Victoria Nuland says the US supports attacks on the peninsula | Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Friday that Ukraine is preparing to launch attacks to recapture Crimea by forming new military units and sending troops to train in other countries. 💬 “There are military steps, and we are preparing for them. We are ready mentally. We are preparing technically: with weapons, reinforcements, the formation of brigades, in particular the assault brigades, of different categories and nature,” Zelensky said at a press conference, according to the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform.  According to Ukrinform, Zelensky said Ukrainian troops were being sent to train in other countries to learn how to use new weapons. “We have to be ready. Then, there will be corresponding fair de-occupation steps and, God willing, they will be successful,” he added.  Zelensky and other top Ukrainian officials have maintained that kicking Russia out of Crimea is one of their war goals, but Russia controls a good portion of territory to the north of Crimea in the Kherson Oblast. The Pentagon has also assessed it’s unlikely Ukraine can take the peninsula, which Russia has controlled since 2014.

Public fury over the gross negligence of Britain’s leadership means little to its leaders. | Unvetted illegal migrants, mostly from Africa and the Middle East (Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Eritrea and Yemen), are being fast-tracked to receive full asylum, and thus to be allowed to settle permanently in Britain. After that, they’ll be permitted to “sponsor relatives to join them here.” The strength and future of any country depends on its inhabitants. The UK has flung open its doors to literally anyone without any due process. Among those entering the UK include hardcore criminals and jihadists. Permalink China urges Russia-Ukraine ceasefire, offers path to peace in position paper, shows sincerity in global governance

A blueprint in good faith | On the one-year anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine military conflict, China restated its calls for political settlement of the Ukraine crisis with more specific plans that accommodate the concerns of both Russia and Ukraine, in a neutral and consistent manner. In a 12-point position paper dubbed "China's Position on the Political Settlement of the Ukraine Crisis," issued on Friday morning, the Chinese Foreign Ministry called for ceasing hostilities and resuming peace talks, stopping unilateral sanctions and abandoning the Cold War mentality. It also called for respecting the sovereignty of all countries and expressed opposition to the use of nuclear weapons. Chinese experts said the document should be viewed as a blueprint that has made China's principles clear for resolving the crisis and pointed out the basic path to achieve it constructively.

Time will prove the enormous value of China’s position paper: Global Times editorial (Global Times)

Comment by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, M.V.Zakharova, in connection with the publication of the Chinese Foreign Ministry's "China's position on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis" | On February 24, a document entitled "China's position on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis" was published on the official website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.  We highly appreciate the sincere desire of Chinese friends to contribute to the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine by peaceful means.  We share Beijing's considerations. We are committed to the principles of compliance with the UN Charter, the norms of international law, including humanitarian law, the indivisibility of security, according to which the security of one country should not be strengthened at the expense of the security of another, which applies to the security of individual groups of countries. Like our Chinese colleagues, we consider any restrictive measures unauthorized by the UN Security Council to be illegitimate. It is a crude instrument of unfair competition and economic warfare.  It was these considerations that dictated our proposals, put forward at the end of 2021, to conclude an Agreement between the Russian Federation and the United States of America on security Guarantees, as well as an Agreement on measures to ensure the Security of the Russian Federation and the Member States of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. We regret that our constructive proposals were rejected by Western countries.  As for the Ukrainian crisis, Russia is open to achieving its goals through political and diplomatic means. This implies the cessation of supplies of Western weapons and mercenaries to Ukraine, the end of hostilities, the return of Ukraine to a neutral non-aligned status, recognition of the new territorial realities that have developed as a result of the realization of the right of peoples to self-determination, demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, as well as the elimination of all threats emanating from its territory.  Citizens of Ukraine, including the Russian-speaking population and representatives of national minorities, should be guaranteed all inalienable rights, including the right to speak and study in their native language. All illegal restrictive measures should be abolished and politicized lawsuits in international courts should be withdrawn.  We are confident that moving along this path will lead to a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace.  The main obstacle to a peaceful settlement today is the "impossibility" of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as the initiatives of the Ukrainian leader, which testify to the complete isolation of official Kiev from modern realities, including the demand for the withdrawal of Russian troops from our new territories – Donbass, Crimea, which was legislated by the Decree of V. Zelensky on September 30, 2022., Zaporozhye and Kherson region. At the same time, we would also like to remind you that it was Ukraine that in April 2022 stopped the peace talks initiated by it with Russia.(Translation: yandex.ru)

Permalink UKRAINE MASSING INVASION TROOPS

Russian Army units stationed in Crimea are on high alert after the second(!) announcement by the Russian Ministry of Defence, which speaks of "preparations for the invasion of Ukrainian forces in Transnistria" | In the next few hours Russia will have to start reinforcing its forces in Transnistria if it does not want to face unpleasant developments. It remains to be seen how this will be achieved.  Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry stressed that Kiev is preparing a provocation, according to which militants dressed in Russian military uniforms will enter Transnistria from Ukrainian territory as "Russian troops" and then attack Ukrainian forces.  Russian intelligence services have documented the accumulation not only of Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel, but also of military equipment near the border with Transnistria. There is a deployment of Ukrainian artillery units in firing positions. The Russian Ministry of Defence is at the same time recording an unprecedented increase in the number of flights of drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine into the territory of Transnistria. Permalink Russian media: is Russia ready to fight for Transnistria? (warnews247.gr)

Russian media comment on the developments as follows:

💬 "Immediately after Vladimir Putin's message yesterday, a decree appeared that cancels the 2012 decision, which included, among other things, 'active participation in the search for ways to resolve the Transnistrian problem on the basis of respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and neutral status of the Republic of Moldova in determining the special status of Transnistria'. "The document was formed when false hopes of constructive relations with the US and the EU reigned in the Kremlin. Now this decree has become a relic of an outdated era and I dare to hope that Russia's foreign policy will now be driven by its national interests, including the situation of compatriots abroad, including Moldova," said Nikolai Kostyrkin, head of the International Union of Free Journalists.

It was no coincidence that the repeal of the decree coincided with the message from the President of Russia and the response speech by US President Joe Biden. When the West speaks openly about its intention to "defeat Putin", there can be no talk of any cooperation, including various forms of resolving frozen conflicts. However, it is the conflict in Transnistria that the collective West is trying to thaw with all available forces. Recently the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky made another attempt to drag Moldova into a military confrontation with Russia. To this end, he made statements about an upcoming armed coup in Moldova "involving citizens of Russia, Belarus, Serbia and Montenegro" and about Moscow's desire to seize the airport in Chisinau and use it as a transshipment base.

💬 "The Moldovan authorities are deliberately fomenting a conflict with Transnistria in order to draw Russia into it. President Sandu and the new Prime Minister Dorin Recean are not sovereign politicians, they are ruled by the US. And Washington seeks to weaken Russia's position by opening a 'second front' in Moldova."

This is the task assigned to Sandu and the new Prime Minister Dorin Recean. In the last few days alone, Moscow has issued a series of warnings to the Moldovan leadership: from the mild ones, through the mouth of the head of the Russian president's press service, Dmitry Peskov, to the harshest ones, expressed by the leader of the Duma faction "Just Russia - For Truth" Sergei Mironov. Western curators convinced the Moldovan authorities that Russia is a "clay-footed colossus", has been unsuccessfully liberating Bakhmut and Avdeevka for more than a year and should not be afraid of actions on its part.

According to the head of the CIS Institute of Countries department Kirill Frolov, Moscow has no choice but to immediately recognize the Moldovan Republic of Transnistria:

💬 "The threat of genocide of more than 200,000 Russian citizens living in Transnistria is a reality. Moreover, Russia has no other choice after Biden's actual declaration of war on Russia, who announced on 21 February the trial of Putin and the Russian leadership. But there are strong legal grounds for recognizing Transnistria, including a series of referendums on reunification with Russia."

However, Moscow should also understand that Transnistria's resources of resistance are not unlimited. Hundreds of thousands of people who believe in Russia may be left without protection against the occupiers, who consider the pro-Russian population as "collaborators". Comment by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution "Principles of the UN Charter underlying the achievement of a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine" | Read completely | On February 23, during the resumed 11th emergency special session of the UN General Assembly, the resolution "Principles of the UN Charter underlying the achievement of a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine" was adopted by vote.  The Western authors of this latest anti-Russian initiative, hypocritically hiding behind their alleged adherence to the UN Charter, sought to condemn the measures taken by Russia to resolve the situation within the framework of a special military operation. The proposed document lacked such basic concepts for achieving sustainable peace as dialogue, a call for negotiations without preconditions, as well as the inadmissibility of the supply of weapons to the conflict zone. The corresponding unification amendments proposed by our Belarusian friends were blocked by Westerners.  Thus, the essence of the initiative is the continuation of the indiscriminate criticism unleashed in the West against Russia, support for the criminal nationalist regime in Kiev, which the collective West has been purposefully preparing for war against our country in recent years. When promoting the project, the United States and its satellites used their favorite methods of influencing dissenters, including blackmail and threats of sanctions.[...] The resolution, which is advisory in nature, did not receive more support than the previous documents of the 11th emergency special session of the General Assembly.  A larger number of countries opposed the proposed project. Dozens of countries abstained, including China, India and South Africa. We are grateful to all partners for their support.  The Russian side will continue its progressive work aimed at developing fair assessments of the situation in and around Ukraine, defending the national security and identity of our country, the need to comply with all the principles of the UN Charter, including the sovereign equality of states. Permalink Nord Stream investigator recalls hidden history of US-Norway covert ops

Decades before allegedly helping it bomb European gas lines, the Norwegian military aided the CIA’s undeclared war in Vietnam | Six decades before Norway helped the CIA destroy the Nord Stream gas pipelines, it gave the agency heavily-armed boats that it used to target North Vietnam, investigative journalist Seymour Hersh wrote on Wednesday. Norway’s involvement in this secret war was deeper than previously reported, Hersh claimed.  Hersh, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist, claimed earlier this month that the CIA sabotaged the Nord Stream lines on President Joe Biden’s orders. The Norwegian Secret Service and Navy reportedly helped CIA divers choose the correct spot to plant the explosives, and ferried the Americans out on a boat to the location, near Denmark’s Bornholm island in the Baltic Sea. Explaining why the US chose Norway as its partner in destroying the Russia-to-Germany gas lines, Hersh said on Wednesday that the “Norwegian Navy has a long and murky history of cooperation with American intelligence.”  Historical reports show that Norway sold a number of fast attack boats to the US Navy, which were used by the CIA to conduct clandestine attacks along the North Vietnamese coast. By 1964, prior to the US’ official entry into the Vietnam war, at least two Norwegian sailors had confessed to taking part in these raids, while unconfirmed reports claimed that Norwegian officers and crew manned some of these boats.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 21 delivered a keynote speech addressing the Federal Assembly. "And the major conclusion that I personally make from this speech, the major impression that I have from the speech is that despite the Western efforts to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia, Russia has successfully adapted to the new environment." Putin Nailed It When Criticizing the West - The West is likely to react aggressively to Putin's speech, especially because many of the issues he touched upon were spot on, Sputnik's interlocutors said. 💬 "It will be criticized because of the statement that the West has started attacking Russia in 2014, arming the Ukrainian forces and deploying NATO armaments to the borders of Russia," Paolo Raffone, a strategic analyst and director of the CIPI Foundation in Brussels, told Sputnik. "It will be discounted as weak on the economy because it does not recognize the negative effect of sanctions. Global COVID-19 Pandemic Outcomes: Dissecting a Failed Strategy | This preprint analysis of 108 countries is apparently close to being peer-reviewed. Its summary findings are important and may come as a surprise to those who have not been carefully monitoring the data as it emerged and reading the research, much of which only appeared on Substack. Key Findings:

Higher countrywide COVID-19 vaccination rates »» higher COVID-19 deaths per country population.
Higher country healthcare costs per capita »» higher COVID-19 deaths per country population.
Higher annual income per capita »» higher COVID-19 deaths per country population.
Higher countrywide COVID-19 testing »» higher COVID-19 deaths per country population.
Higher country COVID response stringency (mandates, masking, social distancing, curfews, quarantine,     business/school closings, banning or limiting public gatherings, lockdowns, travel ban, contact tracing, and PCR) »»     higher COVID-19 deaths per country population.
Higher countrywide Hydroxychloroquine use »» lower COVID-19 deaths per country population.
Higher countrywide Ivermectin use »» lower COVID-19 deaths per country population.

Every single policy not only failed to mitigate death from the virus but evidently made the situation worse. All social distancing policies, zealous testing and, worst of all, the subjection of populations to participate in a mass medical experiment without proper consent, resulted in increased mortality.

This new analysis of raw, official, unmanipulated data from The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) confirms what many of us, who trust our own eyes and ears, have been suspecting for years: There never was a Covid pandemic in 2020. Let’s be clear: There was a virus that was making people sick and killing some people, but not more so than in any previous years. The author makes a good case that the narrative of Covid virus pandemic was based on unsuitable PCR tests. The author, Wilson Sy, uses the Bradford Hill analysis in his 25-page long paper, titled: Australian COVID-19 pandemic: A Bradford Hill analysis of iatrogenic excess mortality Wilson Sy is an analyst with 62 publications.  And there is more: The author argues convincingly that the actual Covid injections caused an iatrogenic pandemic in Australia in 2021 and 2022. Iatrogenic means caused by medical examination or treatment. If this work holds up to scrutiny, it looks like this is convincing evidence that the state of Australia is directly responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of its citizens by manipulating, coercing, or mandating them to take unsafe, deadly Covid injections. This is another confirmation of what Steve Kirsch has been saying for a long time now. It is not based on opinions, speculations, modeling, or propaganda. Instead, it is based on official raw data of events that actually happened in Australia. Data doesn’t lie.

The spokesman said the diplomat’s remarks “once again emphasize the depth of differences between us” and highlight “the role of the United States as the main instigator of existing global tensions.”  On Friday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova condemned Nuland’s statement on Crimea as 💬 “staggering” and “absurd,” calling it proof of “the US involvement in the Ukraine conflict.” In addition to supplying Kiev with weapons, the US is now “pushing the Kiev regime to further escalation,” she said. “This is what we had warned about before and what had forced us to launch a special military operation.”

Permalink Finland Reverses Course, Says It Will Join NATO Without Sweden

Turkey has said it could approve Finland without Sweden | The comments came after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Sweden wouldn’t receive support from Ankara over a Quran-burning protest that was held in front of the Turkish embassy in Turkey. Erdogan also said Turkey could approve Finland without Sweden. Finnish Defense Minister Mikko Savola told The Associated Press on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference on Saturday that Finland would prefer to join NATO with Sweden but wouldn’t delay its membership if Turkey only approves Helskinki’s membership.  The change in position came just two weeks after Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin said her country wouldn’t join NATO without Sweden.  If Helsinki joins NATO without Stockholm, it would still significantly raise tensions with Moscow as Finland shares an over 800-mile border with Russia, and the Russian military plans to boost its presence in western Russia in response.
