And certain questions now have become impertinent, very much so: Like "What was the cause of death?" "Had [name] been vaccinated?" The new genre is a particularly repugnant one due to its nauseating mix of lies, deceptive intimacy and sentimentality. These reportages now have become obituaries and vice versa. It is hard to tell the difference anymore. The new genre might tentatively be referred to as 'Covid Journalism' even though "covid" (i.e. influenza) has precious little to do with it. But again, that's the point: make it so that the question of the lethal injections never even arises; the very question now has become 'crimethink'. – Yes, it's Orwell again.

Largely unbeknownst to the general public, executives and top journalists of almost all major US media outlets have long been members of the influential Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).

Swiss Policy Research | Established in 1921 as a private, bipartisan organization to “awaken America to its worldwide responsibilities”, the CFR and its close to 5000 elite members for decades have shaped US foreign policy and public discourse about it. As a well-known Council member famously explained, they transformed the American republic into a global empire, albeit a “bene­volent” one. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said his government is ordering the mandatory evacuation of people in the eastern Donetsk region, the scene of fierce fighting with Russia.

The governor of Donetsk, where Moscow is focusing the brunt of its offensive, said six civilians were killed and 15 others wounded in attacks on Friday. In a television address late on Saturday, Zelenskyy also said the hundreds of thousands of people still in combat zones in the larger Donbas region, which contains Donetsk as well as the neighbouring Luhansk region, needed to leave.

Latvian authorities ask Russians who want to enter Latvia to sign a document condemning the war in Ukraine, reports the news website LSM. LSM notes that Russians who immigrated to Latvia express indignation in social networks because of checks at the border.

💬 “The purpose of the inspections is to identify persons who support Russia's military aggression against Ukraine and may pose a threat to the national security of Latvia," the Latvian State Security Service said in a statement.

62 foreigners have already been denied entry into Latvia. Among them are 41 Russians, 14 Belarusians and 7 citizens of other countries. These persons got their visa for travel to the Schengen area canceled.
