Permalink Assad on Britain: 'Naive, confused and unrealistic'

Syrian president launches astonishing attack on the 'arsonist' British government and issues dire warning against arming rebels.

Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad has launched an astonishing attack on Britain, accusing the 'arsonist' government of being 'naive, confused and unrealistic' in its approach to the ongoing conflict in his country. He went on to warn of 'grave' consequences if the West armed its rebels. Assad said that Britain has been unconstructive in its attempts to militarise the rebels. In an interview with the Sunday Times he said Britain was sacrificing peace talks to push for an end to an EU arms embargo, which would allow rebels to be armed. Warning this would accelerate the road to war, he rejected the possibility of help from Britain to end the conflict, saying: 'We do not expect an arsonist to be a firefighter.' Tony Cartalucci: UK Seeks to Further Fund, Arm Al Qaeda Collaborator Moaz al-Khatib - Resorting to name-calling, the United Kingdom's legitimacy slumped further still as it stubbornly maintained its support for terrorists attempting to overthrow the Syrian government, now unsuccessfully for over 2 years. Unlike in Libya where NATO was able to militarily intervene directly and overthrow the Libyan government before the public realized the so-called "rebels" were in fact the US State Department, United Nations, and the UK Home Office (page 5, .pdf)-listed Al Qaeda terrorist organization, the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), the West's assault on Syria has dragged on much longer. So long in fact, that the entire world is now acutely aware of the so-called "rebels," their overt affiliations and membership amongst Al Qaeda, the serial atrocities they've committed, and the draconian, barbaric sectarian (and quite "undemocratic") rule they plan on imposing, already on display in northern Syria where extremist cleric, Moaz al-Khatib, designated by the West as the "opposition leader," recently visited.

Robert Dreyfuss: The CIA Is Training Syria's Rebels - The CIA is training Syrian fighters in Jordan. Buried in [a New York Times] story today about Secretary of State John Kerry’s announcement that the United States will increase aid to the rebels, including medical supplies and those always tasty MREs (“Meals Ready to Eat”), was this previously unreported nugget: A covert program to train rebel fighters, which State Department officials here were not prepared to discuss, has also been under way. According to an official in Washington, who asked not to be identified, the CIA since last year has been training groups of Syrian rebels in Jordan.

PressTV: Netanyahu, Jordan king in secret talks - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Jordan's King Abdullah II have reportedly held a secret meeting in Jordan on the so-called Middle East peace process. "Last week, Netanyahu travelled to Jordan and met King Abdullah II" and they discussed the Middle East "peace process" [war], a diplomatic source told AFP on the condition of anonymity on Saturday. Netanyahu and King Abdullah II also had met in December in Jordan where they held talks on Syria "unrest" [war].
