Permalink For What It's Worth, Israel admits army shot dead over 100 Palestinians seeking aid

Israel's war on Gaza — now in its 148th day — has killed at least 30,228 Palestinians, mostly children and women, and wounded 71,377 others. | Saturday, March 2, 2024, 0820 GMT — Israel admitted that its forces opened fire at Palestinians waiting for humanitarian aid south of Gaza City, killing more than 100 people and injuring over 700 others.

💬 “IDF (Israel Defense Forces) forces did not shoot at the convoy. IDF forces did not shoot at people looting the trucks. IDF forces used fire when masses ran toward them in a way that threatened their lives. They were there in the first place to secure the convoy,” Israeli government spokesman Eylon Levy said on X.

The spokesperson later on deleted his post and repeated claims by the Israeli army, accusing civilians of killing each other in a stampede.

💬 “Those poor people were killed when they were crushed in a stampede and in some cases run over by the Gazan truck drivers as they tried to get out. But go ahead, blame Israel,” Levy said later.

Permalink German army discussed strike on Crimean Bridge, leaked audio purportedly indicates

Kiev has long sought to destroy the critical Russian infrastructure, with two bombings damaging the bridge in the past two years | German military leaders allegedly discussed an operation to bomb the Crimean Bridge, RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan claimed on Friday, citing audio leaked by Russian security officials. The recording purportedly features a 40-minute conversation between high-ranking Bundeswehr officers, Simonyan said on social media. They discussed how to carry out the attack while maintaining plausible deniability for German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, according to her account of the conversation.  They also remarked that the German military was keeping its distance from the Ukraine conflict, unlike the American and the British, who they said had been “directly involved for a long time,” Simonyan claimed. She did not publish the audio, but said she was tempted to do so. Requests for comment have been sent to German officials, including the ambassador, the foreign ministry, and the chancellor’s office, Simonyan added.

Permalink Unprecedented Figures Highlight Israeli Shock: Army Urgently Requires 7,000 More Troops

Israeli media reported on Friday that the occupation military is compiling data to illustrate the severe manpower issue represented by the intensifying personnel shortages in the wake of nearly 150 days of combat. | As first reported on Friday morning on Ynet and “Yedioth Ahronoth”, the Israeli military urgently requires an additional 7,000 soldiers, with half of these intended for combat roles. The report added that “it’s crucial to note that this figure is over and above the soldiers already slated for recruitment in upcoming cycles.” Ynet also reported that the occupation army is calling for another 7,500 officer and non-commissioned officer positions, while the treasury is currently only approving 2,500. “These unprecedented figures underscore the shock experienced by the IDF in the wake of nearly 150 days of conflict, which began with substantial losses on October 7,” the Israeli daily commented, referring to the Israeli occupation forces.

Permalink “Israel” Marks over 600 Acres of Seized Palestinian Land for Settlement Expansion

In a new scene of aggression, “Israel” plans to seize hundreds of acres of Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank to expand a settlement. It is viewed as one of the entity’s biggest land-grab schemes. | The entity’s authorities on Thursday appropriated several tracts of land near the settlement. The territory would now be designated as part of the “Maale Adumim” settlement, east of al-Quds. The tracts amount to 2,640 dunams, or 652 acres. The West Bank, including East al-Quds, is among the “Israel” captured in 1967. Much of the international community deems the settlements illegal. On February 24, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Washington deemed the West Bank settlements inconsistent with international law.
