Permalink Polish troops would never leave Ukraine – Putin

Warsaw covets its “historic lands,” the Russian president has claimed | Any attempt to send Polish troops into Ukraine could end in a long-term occupation, Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned in an extensive interview with journalist Dmitry Kiselyov, set to be aired by the Russia 1 TV broadcaster and RIA Novosti on Wednesday.

💬 “If Polish troops enter the territory of Ukraine in order to, as they say, secure the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, for example, or in some other places to free up Ukrainian rear military units to participate in hostilities on the front line, then I think that Polish troops will never leave,” Putin said, according to excerpts from the interview.

The deployment of NATO troops to Ukraine amid the conflict with Russia is “not unthinkable,” Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski claimed last week. He was commenting on a statement by French President Emmanuel Macron, who said late last month that he “cannot exclude” the possibility of soldiers from the US-led military bloc being sent to aid Kiev. Putin believes that Polish officials dream of returning...

💬 “...those lands that they consider historically their own, and which were taken from them by… Joseph Stalin, and transferred to Ukraine.” “They certainly want them back. So if official Polish units enter there, they are unlikely to leave,” he claimed.

Permalink ‘Disaster of the century’: Iran urges intl. community to stop Israeli genocide, starvation in Gaza

The Iranian foreign minister says the continuation of the Israeli regime’s genocidal war against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip in the holy fasting month of Ramadan sounds the alarm about the “most unprecedented disaster of the century.” | Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a letter addressed to United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, the head of the UN Security Council, the secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as well as the foreign ministers of Islamic countries and other states across the world.  Pointing to the months-long Israeli war on Gaza, the top Iranian diplomat censured the United Nations Security Council’s inability to stop the brutal aggression on the Palestinian territories and called for “serious measures” to help people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.  Abdollahian denounced the continued inability of the UNSC to stop the war against the Gaza Strip and the West Bank due to the US's prevention of the council's effective actions through excessive resort to the "right of veto."  He asserted that, 💬 “With the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, it is absolutely necessary for the international community to find practical ways and take serious measures to support the Palestinian people, immediately stop the military attacks against the Gaza Strip and find a way out of the current dire situation.” The Iranian foreign minister also underlined that the Israel regime “deliberately” pursues the policy of the complete destruction of Gaza by imposing a total siege on the Palestinian territory.  Israel began the genocidal war on October 7, 2023, after Hamas-led Palestinian resistance groups carried out Operation al-Aqsa Storm against the usurping entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
