Permalink In 157 days only: 31,112 killed, over 72,760 wounded in Gaza

The Israeli occupation commits seven massacres within 24 hours across the Strip, killing 67 Palestinians and wounding 106. | The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza reported on Monday that 31,112 Palestinians were killed and 72,760 were wounded by the Israeli occupation as the genocide in Gaza enters its 157th day.  The Ministry pointed out that 72% of the martyrs are women and children. It detailed that "Israel" carried out seven massacres, killing 67 Palestinians and injuring 106 others in 24 hours only. It further noted that numerous Palestinians are still trapped under the rubble, with the Israeli military obstructing medical and civil defense teams from accessing bombed sites to rescue survivors or retrieve bodies buried beneath the debris. Two children died from malnutrition and due to the lack of medical supplies at Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza Strip. This brings the total number of Palestinians, predominantly children, killed so far as a result of "Israel's" tactic of deliberate starvation to 27. Concurrently, 16 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli occupation bombing of a house near al-Farouq Mosque in the al-Zaytoun neighborhood, east of Gaza City.

Permalink Top German diplomat does not rule out transfer of Taurus missiles to Ukraine

Olaf Scholz has repeatedly - most recently on March 4 - reiterated his refusal to supply Ukraine with Taurus missiles | Germany may agree to a swap of Taurus missiles with the UK to provide Kiev with new long-range missiles, despite German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's consistent refusal to directly supply Kiev with this weapon system, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said.  UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron told Germany's Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper on March 9 that London was ready to help Berlin resolve issues related to possible deliveries of Taurus missiles to Kiev. When asked whether a "swap" was being discussed, in which London could transfer its Storm Shadow missiles to Kiev in exchange for Taurus missiles from Germany, Cameron said that the country was prepared to consider all options to maximize the impact for Ukraine, but declined to give details. Scholz has repeatedly - most recently on March 4 - reiterated his refusal to supply Ukraine with Taurus missiles.

Permalink British mercenary kills himself after returning from Ukraine – media

The man’s decision to fight for Kiev was prompted by ex-Prime Minister Liz Truss, an inquest has heard | Harry Gregg – a 25-year-old man from Norfolk, UK who was inspired by former Prime Minister Liz Truss to go and fight in Ukraine – committed suicide by hanging himself after returning from the embattled country, British media reported on Sunday, citing the official investigation. He reportedly suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and was unable to receive adequate help, according to his mother.  In February 2022, Truss, who was then serving as foreign secretary, said on national TV that she would “absolutely” support UK nationals who go to fight for Ukraine. Her statement followed an earlier appeal from officials in Kiev for foreign volunteers to come and join the battle. [...] Her comments were at odds with the government, which maintained that anyone going to “fight or assist others engaged in the conflict” could be prosecuted upon returning to the UK.

Permalink UK allowed killing of own citizens to protect undercover agent – police chief

MI5 turned a blind eye to crimes during the Troubles, a state-appointed investigator says | British security forces knowingly failed to prevent several murders of UK citizens in order to protect an informant in an armed resistance group active in Northern Ireland during the Troubles, a high-profile report published on Friday said.  The interim report on Operation Kenova – an independent investigation into the activities of an alleged government agent known as ‘Stakeknife’ – was presented by the probe’s former head, Jon Boutcher. Launched in 2016, the inquiry specifically dealt with the agent’s alleged involvement in the kidnappings, torture, and murders committed by the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA).

Permalink Did British insurance sink this ship?

Outdated information, tenuous links sealed this vessel’s fate | When the 19,000 gross ton bulk carrier MV Rubymar entered the Red Sea just a few weeks ago, the captain knew that the area was dangerous, but he also knew that the Houthi rebels were targeting UK and US owned ships. His vessel was Belize flagged, and Lebanese owned. His assessment was that the risks offered by the Houthis were worth avoiding the 3,000-6,000 mile detour offered by a trip around the Cape of Good Hope.  On February 18, two Houthi missiles hit the ship, forcing the entire crew to abandon the terminally stricken vessel. What the captain didn’t realize was that the ship had two British indicators linked to it - it was insured by Thomas Miller Specialty, a commercial managing general agency (MGA) which manages a GWP of over $1.6 billion writing a variety of niche and specialist lines of business, and that the ship’s Lebanese operator was inaccurately connected to a UK residential address in the Equasis public database. The Department for Transport criticized the attack, acknowledging Rubymar’s minimal connections to the UK.

Permalink Resistance groups inflict heavy losses on Israeli military in Gaza

Resistance groups have inflicted heavy losses on the Israeli military in the Gaza Strip amid the invading regime’s genocidal war on the Palestinian territory. | On Monday, the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, a coalition of Palestinian armed groups based in the occupied West Bank, said it had carried out 14 operations against Israeli forces. The brigades said it had “engaged in fierce clashes [with the troops] and targeted gatherings of Zionist enemy army vehicles,” causing “several deaths and injuries within the ranks of the enemy army.”  Meanwhile, Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen television news network cited various resistance groups in Gaza as reporting making substantial gains against the aggressors. According to the report, al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing, carried out a drone attack against gatherings of Israeli troops, including their “command tents,” east of the city of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip.  The brigades also said it had caused heavy casualties among the regime’s ranks in the southern city of Khan Younis by bombing a booby-trapped house that had been attacked by an Israeli infantry brigade.

Permalink Gaza Becomes Israel's Testing Ground for Military Robots

Israel's increased use of robots in Gaza allows initial surveillance without jeopardizing soldiers and dogs | In an effort to avoid harming soldiers and dogs, the IDF has been experimenting with the use of robots and remote-controlled dogs in the Gaza War. Most of the tests have been with a "robot dog," which is also equipped with a drone and can replace or reinforce the Oketz Unit's dogs in certain situations. Unmanned remote-control D9 bulldozers are also being used.  It is nothing new for the IDF to use robots and unmanned ground vehicles, especially by elite units and the Yahalom Unit operating in the tunnels.  However, there have also been unsuccessful projects. The October 7 attack, which showed starkly that it is not possible to rely solely on technology, strengthened doubts about these developments. But defense establishment officials confirm that there has been a leap in the use and sophistication of robots on the battlefield.
