200 professors and experts in international law, most of them from prestigious American universities, have announced their support for a lawsuit filed by the South African government before the International Court of Justice against the government of “Israel” for violating the 1948 Genocide Convention. | The lawsuit said “As scholars and practitioners in international law, genocide studies, international studies, and similar fields related to global justice, we support South Africa’s application before the International Court of Justice as a step towards a necessary ceasefire in Gaza, and achieving Justice in Palestine.  It is noteworthy that the Republic of South Africa began its procedures before the International Court of Justice on December 29, 2023, against “Israel”, as it asked the court to recommend temporary measures to stop the genocide committed by “Israel” against the Palestinian people.

Let the hearings begin (Al Mayadeen) [...] South Africa is urging the court to promptly enforce "provisional measures" and instruct "Israel" to stop causing harm, both physical and mental, and to cease killing Palestinians in Gaza. The filing also specifies that "Israel" should be directed to refrain from deliberately imposing conditions intended to lead to the destruction of Palestinians as a group. Additionally, the filing calls for measures to prevent and penalize incitement to genocide and to put an end to restrictions on aid and evacuation directives.

The Israeli occupation’s aggression against Gaza shows no signs of slowing down as it enters its ninety-seventh day. Shockingly, the past 24 hours alone witnessed the martyrdom of approximately 200 Palestinians in 14 documented massacres, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. | The occupation forces have intensified their bombing campaigns in the central and southern regions of Gaza, resulting in widespread destruction. In addition, they have escalated their attacks in the West Bank, with reports of towns in Jenin being stormed, and clashes breaking out in Nablus.   South Africa’s Genocide Case against ‘Israel’. Today, the first session of the International Court of Justice begins in The Hague, focusing on the South African lawsuit against the Israeli occupation regarding the commission of genocidal massacres in the Gaza Strip. The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor has presented a memorandum with preliminary information about mass graves established in Gaza, shedding light on the genocide crimes committed by the Israeli occupation since October of last year.
