Permalink Israeli Forces' Role in Be'eri Kibbutz Slaughter Unearthed

During the Al-Aqsa Storm operation on October 7, Israeli security forces killed over one hundred settlers, 25 of whom were Be'eri Kibbutz inhabitants, when they encountered unexpected challenges that resulted in over 1,100 casualties. | In a recent speech addressing the Al-Aqsa Storm operation, Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary general of Hezbollah in Lebanon, unveiled a perspective that was previously overlooked by the media. Nasrallah directly spoke to the residents of the occupied territories, highlighting the fact that a number of Zionists were killed by their own regime's security and military forces.  Israeli forces killed Israeli residents in the occupied territories, both accidentally due to a lack of preparedness and errors by the forces, and intentionally to prevent their capture by the resistance forces.  A noteworthy statistic emerges as Tasnim examines the data on conflicts and fatalities in the early days of this operation. Of the approximately 1,100 casualties, between 80 and 100 individuals were victims of the regime's security forces, with 25 of them happening in the Be'eri Kibbutz conflict.

"When a journalist gives himself the authority to question another journalist like a policeman it legitimizes racist attacks on anyone," Mohamed said. Etgar posted on his Instagram account a video of him following Mohamed out of the post office to her car, asking about her take on the war, Mayadeen's coverage and accusing her of broadcasting "fake news," such as that the Israeli army is using chemical weapons.

UN Security Council fails to agree as Gaza death toll passes 10,000 (Hürriyet Daily News) | Despite more than two hours of closed-door discussions Monday, differences remained. The U.S. is calling for “humanitarian pauses” while many other council members are demanding a “humanitarian cease-fire” to deliver desperately needed aid and prevent more civilian deaths in Gaza. China, which holds the Security Council presidency this month, and the United Arab Emirates, the Arab representative on the council, called Monday’s meeting because of the “crisis of humanity” in Gaza, where more than 10,000 people have been killed in less than a month.

Permalink British Muslim MP quits Labour Party frontbench for leader’s stance over Gaza conflict

British Labour MP Imran Hussain has resigned as a shadow minister from the party's A-team for its leader Keir Starmer's stance over the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza. | [...] Hussain's action followed the resignation of more than 10 Labour council leaders and at least 330 councilors over Starmer's refusal of calling a cease-fire. Starmer's stance has been criticized by the party's prominent figures including London Mayor Sadiq Khan, Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar, and Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham.  Starmer has adopted the UK government's position on Gaza, which insists to say "Israel has right to defend itself" against the Hamas attacks, but failed short of calling for a cease-fire despite more than 10,000 Palestinians were killed under Israeli bombardments.

Permalink 8,000 Ukrainians face criminal charges for evading draft

More than 2,000 cases have reportedly already made it to the country’s courts | Ukrainian investigators have opened more than 8,200 criminal cases over draft dodging since the escalation of conflict between Moscow and Kiev in February last year, Ukrainian outlet Vesti.ua reported on Monday.  The country’s Zakarpatye Region, which borders both Slovakia and Hungary, has launched at least 967 of these probes, the outlet reported, citing police sources. Eastern Dnepropetrovsk Region reportedly has 763 cases and southern Nikolayev Region comes in third, with some 644 probes. Lvov and Volyn Regions made it into the top five as well, with 555 and 491 draft dodging cases registered there, respectively. [...] Apart from closing in on the dodgers, the authorities have been actively exploring other options to bolster the ranks of the military, which was heavily battered in the botched summer counteroffensive, with Moscow estimating Kiev’s losses at more than 90,000 soldiers during the effort. The adopted measures include greatly loosening health requirements for the would-be recruits, and enabling people with various chronic conditions and mental health issues to serve.

Permalink Russia puts another ICC judge on wanted list

The International Criminal Court had issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this year | Russia’s Interior Ministry updated its database on Wednesday, adding ICC judge Sergio Gerardo Ugalde Godinez to the wanted list “in accordance with an article of the Russian Criminal Code.” The ministry has offered no other details about the case against Godinez, a Costa Rican national.  In March, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova for allegedly overseeing “unlawful deportations” of Ukrainian children to Russia. The warrant accuses both of bearing individual and command responsibility for the alleged offense under the ICC’s establishing treaty, the Rome Statute. [...] While Russia signed the Rome Statute in 2000, it never ratified the agreement and formally refused to sign it in 2016 after the court issued a declaration that Crimea’s 2014 accession to Russia – the result of a democratic referendum – constituted an “occupation.” Moscow thus does not recognize the court or its jurisdiction.
