Permalink Israeli Airstrike Claims Lives of 3 Girls, Grandma in South Lebanon, Hezbollah Retaliates

A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in southern Lebanon, where a Zionist military aggression took the lives of three Lebanese children, alongside their grandmother on Sunday evening. | The victims of this tragic incident include Samira Abdel Hassan Ayoub, along with her granddaughters Remas, Talin, and Enas. Their mother, Hoda Abdel Nabi Hijazi, sustained injuries when a civilian car (CRV), situated between the towns of Blida and Ainata along the southern border between Lebanon and occupied Palestine, was targeted by Israeli enemy aircraft, directly striking it and igniting a fire. In response to this heinous crime, Hezbollah released a statement announcing that Islamic resistance fighters targeted Kiryat Shmona settlement with a series of Grad missiles. [...] The Prime Minister of Lebanon, Najib Mikati, has made a statement, asserting that the Israeli crime will not go unpunished. He has declared that the incident will be pursued through international diplomatic channels, with a formal complaint to be lodged with the United Nations Security Council. Mikati pointed out that this crime stands as a stark contrast to the calls for calm and the acquiescence to the occupation’s actions against Lebanon. He viewed this act as yet another blemish on the global conscience that has, regrettably, overlooked the Israeli occupation’s actions in southern Lebanon and Gaza.

Permalink More killings as Israeli targets children’s hospital in Gaza

Israel has targeted a children’s hospital in Gaza as the regime’s brutal aggression on the besieged strip has entered its 31st day. | Palestinian sources said the Israeli army hit Al-Rantisi Children's Hospital in the early hours of Monday, leaving an unspecified number of people killed and injured.  Israeli airstrikes on Gaza have repeatedly targeted hospitals, residential buildings, mosques, and churches. Under the Geneva Convention, attacks on hospitals are strictly prohibited. On October 17, hundreds of civilians were killed and injured by Israeli airstrikes on al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City. The attack has been condemned as an act of genocide by many governments around the world. Several hospitals in Gaza City have become refuges for Palestinians hoping to be spared Israeli bombardments, which began early in October.

Netanyahu Bragged About Zionist Support for Hamas (Kurt Nimmo)(10/18/23 ) | The Israel state has manufactured terror as a pretext for ethnic cleansing and mass murder: “Anyone who wants to thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state has to support bolstering Hamas and transferring money to Hamas.” (B. Netanyahu)

Permalink 11 UK Labour councillors quit party after leader failed over Gaza ceasefire

Eleven councilors have quit the UK’s Labour Party after their calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza were ignored by the party’s leader Keir Starmer. | British media reported on Monday that the leader of Burnley Council and 10 other councilors had left the party after they called for Starmer to resign. The 11 councilors described their memberships as “untenable” due to the leadership’s refusal to demand a ceasefire in West Asia.  Keir [Starmer], who has come under internal pressure for Labour to demand a cessation of hostilities, told reporters that his focus was on stopping the suffering in Gaza, not on the “individual positions” of party members. Starmer on Tuesday echoed remarks made earlier by the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu by saying, “Now is not the time for a ceasefire in Gaza.”

Permalink UK poised to brand dissent as ‘extremism’ – Guardian

Anyone who “undermines” the country’s institutions or values could be targeted under controversial proposed regulations | The UK is considering adopting a new definition of “extremism” that includes anyone who “undermines” British institutions or values, The Guardian reported on Saturday, citing internal government documents. [...] The source documents, marked “official – sensitive,” trumpet its potential to “frame a new, unified response to extremism.” The lack of public debate or consultation regarding the new definition has worried activists, who fear it will effectively criminalize dissent.  Index on Censorship editor Martin Bright called the move “an unwarranted attack on freedom of expression [that] would potentially criminalize every student radical and revolutionary dissident.”

The situation was resolved only an hour later, after the arrival of additional Israeli military and police forces, the report added. ARD in Tel Aviv promised to hire a lawyer to determine the legal consequences of the incident.

Permalink India-Canada Relationship In "Deep Crisis, Its Worst Ever": Experts

Relations between India and Canada have strained after Ottawa claimed that Indian agents may have been involved in the murder of a Khalistani terrorist. | Mutual recriminations since that accusation, which India strongly denies, have strained ties between the two countries - close for almost a century and with extensive links through the Sikh community - to their worst in memory.  And while India's relaxation on visas may have raised some expectations of improved relations, it was not a breakthrough, as neither side has much incentive to hasten a return to normalcy, officials and experts in both countries said.  Neither New Delhi nor Ottawa looks likely to take dramatic steps to reconcile soon as Canada's murder investigation proceeds and Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares for Indian national elections by May.
