A son-in-law of Osama bin Laden who served as al Qaeda's spokesman was arrested in Jordan and then brought to New York in an operation led by Jordanian authorities and the FBI, U.S. government sources said on Thursday. - The sources said Suleiman Abu Ghaith, a militant who appeared in videos representing al Qaeda after the Sept. 11, attacks on New York and Washington in 2001, had initially been picked up in Turkey. The Turkish government deported him to Jordan, said the sources, where local authorities and the FBI took custody of him. He had been brought to the United States in the last few days, a law enforcement source said. Abu Ghaith is now being held in a detention facility in the New York City area and is expected to be charged and eventually brought to trial in federal court. The trial would most likely be in U.S. District Court in lower Manhattan, only blocks from the site of the World Trade Center, which was destroyed in the Sept. 11 attacks, a law enforcement source said. The Justice Department declined to comment and the FBI did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The US has tried to silence a national hero’s eyewitness account of the September 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, Press TV reports. - “Actually, there was an initial explosion in the basement seconds before the plane hit. I spoke about it - they didn’t want me to talk about it,” said William Rodriguez, a janitor working for 20 years in the North Tower of the World Trade Center buildings. Rodriguez was responsible for single-handedly saving at least 15 people, rescuing thousands of survivors while assisting firefighters during the attacks, and subsequently raising 122 million dollars for the victims of 9/11. “My story, which I was recognized as a national hero, doesn’t show up anywhere on the report because my story basically destroys the official one because of the explosion,” said Rodriguez. The American hero believes the so-called 9/11 report is incorrect while the truth is yet to be revealed, as questions remain unanswered including the fact that the government trained Osama bin Laden who “was given support for the Afghan rebels to fight with the Russians.”

A senior Iranian commander says the United States planned the 9/11 terrorist attacks to use them as pretext to invade the energy-rich Middle East. -
“The US, looking for a pretext to invade the Middle East, masterminded the 9/11 incident and pointed an accusing finger at Muslim countries,” Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan said on Saturday.
