On Wednesday, US President Joe Biden announced a new Ukraine military assistance package, which includes High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS). Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that if the US delivers long-range missiles to Ukraine, Russia might hit earlier unaffected targets.

Colonel Markus Reisner of the Austrian Army presents the current state (vid) of the war. Two of the facts he mentions were new to me. The Ukrainian army has moved seven brigades of its Territorial Defense Forces from the west into the area east of the Dnieper. If these were fully maned each will have had some 3,000 soldiers. That are a lot of troops but they are pure infantry without heavy weapons and with extremely little training. Col. Reisner also showed a collection of 15 videos in which members of such and other units describe hopeless situations, declare a retreat or call out their commanders for neglect. The plot, apparently led by one Gwythian Prins, a former NATO and UK Defence Ministry advisor and current member of the Chief of Defence Staff’s Strategy Advisory Panel, is said to have involved spying on anti-Brexit groups, infiltrating the civil service, providing advice to senior Johnson allies, and ultimately, “killing” May’s Brexit plan and removing her from the prime minister’s seat. Back-and-forth emails between Prins and Richard Dearlove, the former MI6 chief who ran the intelligence service between 1999 and 2004, showed that the spymaster played an instrumental role in the operation.

Of course those are rhetorical questions.
