Permalink FBI calls half of populace with 9/11 doubts potential terrorists

The FBI is instructing local police departments and "communities against terrorism" to consider anyone who harbors "conspiracy theories" about 9/11 to be a potential terrorist, in a circular released to local police departments. The memo thus adds 9/11-official-story skeptics to a growing list of targets described by federal law enforcement to be security threats, such as those who express "libertarian philosophies," "Second Amendment-oriented views," interest in "self-sufficiency," "fears of Big Brother or big government," and "Declarations of Constitutional rights and civil liberties."
A newly released national poll shows that 48 percent of Americans either have some doubts about the official account of 9/11, or do not believe it at all.

Permalink U.N. nuclear assembly rejects Arab move targeting Israel

Member states of the U.N. nuclear watchdog narrowly rejected an Arab-sponsored resolution on Friday calling on Israel to join a global anti-atomic weapons treaty, a U.S. victory after a bruising diplomatic battle. Washington had urged countries to vote down the symbolically important although non-binding resolution, saying it could derail broader efforts to ban nuclear warheads in the Middle East and also damage fresh Israeli-Palestinian peace talks. Israel is widely believed to hold the Middle East's only nuclear arsenal and is also the only country in the tinderbox region outside the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Arab states backed by Iran say this poses a threat to peace and stability. They want Israel to subject all its atomic facilities to IAEA monitoring. Israel says it would only join the pact if there is a comprehensive Middle East peace.

Permalink Bolivian president to sue US govt for crimes against humanity

Bolivian President Evo Morales will file a lawsuit against the US government for crimes against humanity. He has decried the US for its intimidation tactics and fear-mongering after the Venezuelan presidential jet was blocked from entering US airspace.

“I would like to announce that we are preparing a lawsuit against Barack Obama to condemn him for crimes against humanity,” said President Morales at a press conference in the Bolivian city of Santa Cruz. He branded the US president as a “criminal” who violates international law.

In solidarity with Venezuela, Bolivia will begin preparing a lawsuit against the US head of state to be taken to the international court. Furthermore, Morales has called an emergency meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) to discuss what has been condemned by Venezuela as “an act of intimidation by North American imperialism.” The Bolivian president has suggested that the members of CELAC withdraw their ambassadors from the US to send a message to the Obama Administration. As an additional measure he will call on the member nations of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas to boycott the next meeting of the UN.

Permalink Syrian government says war has reached stalemate

The Syrian conflict has reached a stalemate and President Bashar al-Assad's government will call for a ceasefire at a long-delayed conference in Geneva on the state's future, the country's deputy prime minister has said in an interview with the Guardian. Qadri Jamil said that neither side was strong enough to win the conflict, which has lasted two years and caused the death of more than 100,000 people. Jamil, who is in charge of country's finances, also said that the Syrian economy had suffered catastrophic losses. "Neither the armed opposition nor the regime is capable of defeating the other side," he said. "This zero balance of forces will not change for a while." Meanwhile, he said, the Syrian economy had lost about $100bn (£62bn), equivalent to two years of normal production, during the war. If accepted by the armed opposition, a ceasefire would have to be kept "under international observation", which could be provided by monitors or UN peace-keepers – as long as they came from neutral or friendly countries, he said.

Permalink West fabricating lies to achieve criminal goals in Syria: Analyst

A political analyst says the Western states “shamelessly” fabricate lies about the recent deadly chemical attack in Syria to pursue the “criminal” objective of a regime change in the Arab country, Press TV reports. In an article published on Press TV website on Thursday, Finian Cunningham wrote, “What is clear is that Western governments are shamelessly contriving partial and unsubstantiated data” about the circumstances of the chemical attack near Damascus for the sake of the “political objectives” they are pursuing in Syria.

Permalink Putin: Syria's chemical arms are response to Israel's nukes

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday that Syria's chemical weapons cache was built up in response to Israel's alleged nuclear weapons stockpile, and that these nuclear capabilities make Israel into a target. "Syrian chemical weapons were built in response to Israel's nuclear weapons," Putin said, responding to a question about the chances of persuading Syria to give up its arsenal, as agreed under a deal proposed by the Kremlin last week. Putin said that dismantling weapons of mass destruction was a key issue and that "Israel's technological superiority means that it doesn't have to have nuclear weapons."

Chicago police say two gunmen attacked a crowd on a park basketball court, with at least 12 people injured in the shooting, including three-year-old, their conditions from serious to critical. The gunmen haven’t been taken into custody yet. Chicago Fire Department officials report the child is in critical condition. “They hit the light pole next to me, but I ducked down and ran into the house,” Julian Harris, uncle of the wounded child, said. “They've been coming round here looking for people to shoot every night, just gang-banging stuff. It's what they do.” A witness at the scene told the Chicago Tribune that three police officers carried the child to an ambulance. "I didn't hear any sounds from the child,” the witness said.

Permalink Genocide charge for Romanian who ran communist prison

Romanian prosecutors have charged a communist-era prison commander, Alexander Visinescu, with genocide. It is the first such charge in Romania since the 1989 revolution which led to the execution of former communist leader Nicolae Ceausescu. Mr Visinescu, 88, could face life in prison if found guilty. He was head of the Ramnicu Sarat prison in 1956-1963. Prosecutors say political prisoners there suffered beatings, hunger, cold and lack of medical treatment. Mr Visinescu lives in Bucharest and went to the prosecutor-general's office on Tuesday, where he was indicted. He told prosecutors he was only following orders. Former political prisoners, quoted by the Romanian news agency Agerpres, described him as "a very cruel man".

Permalink 'What McCain says about Russia and Vladimir Putin is exactly the opposite of what facts are' - expert

US Senator John McCain published a response to the Vladimir Putin’s NYT op-ed in the Internet news outlet Pravda.Ru. In his article, Republican Senator, who regularly criticizes Russia and Russian officials, said that he is not an active anti-Russian politician. The VoR discussed this issue with Stephen Lendman, a writer, syndicated columnist and activist. Stephen, thank you very much for joining us! What do you think of this latest sort of exchange between Vladimir Putin and Senator McCain?

On the one hand, I can only say thanks to Vladimir Putin. John McCain is not only a blunder buss. He does this sort of things all the time. He's also a dumbo. He is one of the most incompetent senators in Congress. Many of his own party members despise him. When he ran for presidency in 2008, he dissociated himself from his campaign. And even McCain had to admit that he really isn't the brightest guy in Washington. He admitted that when he was in Naples, he graduated near the bottom of his class, he picked grades nearly good enough to graduate. I mean, the guy is not only incompetent. He's stupid. I'm surprised he can read and write. And what he says about Russia and Vladimir Putin is exactly the opposite of what the facts are. As far as McCain is concerned, he would like the Pentagon to be al-Qaeda's air force against the Syrian people, against Syrian civilians, which is what it amounts to in the Syrian conflict. McCain is a disgrace.

Permalink Making a Killing: The Untold Story of Psychotropic Drugging

This video provides the facts about psychotropic drugs and the huge profits they create for the pharmaceutical industry.

These drugs are not safe and have not been on the market long enough to provide sufficient long term studies regarding their effects. These drugs do cause addiction, however most "doctors" would call this dependence because you do not have to take an increasing dose over time. They are completely fine with you being addicted to the same amount of any given drug on a daily basis.

Over half of the people that commit suicide in the United States are prescribed to psychotropic drugs. (Ex: Paxil (Paroxetine), Zoloft (Sertraline), Prozac, Wellbutrin (Bupropion), Effexor, Seroquil, Ultram (Tramadol), etc.)

Permalink Canada under fire over controversial law on cell phone users

Cell phone companies in Canada, bidding on new contracts, face legislation that forces them to allow Canadian authorities to spy on mobile phone users under an unpublicized accord. For almost 20 years, Canadian telecommunications companies have been told that one of the conditions of getting a license to use wireless spectrum is to permit the government to monitor the devices that use the spectrum. [...] "Well you know most people don’t realize under the border and prosperity agreement, US police forces can come up here in Canada without any checks and balances and arrest a person and take him down and so our forces can do that too. Adversely, the NSA (the US National Security Agency) and the CSIS (the Canadian Security Intelligence Service) - a Canadian equivalent - are working hand in hand together and the NSA shares all the information with Israel for whatever reason that is,” said media instructor Dan Gascon.
