Permalink Journalist on NSA leak case: More to be revealed

There will be more ‘significant information’ exposed in the near future, AP cites the journalist who revealed classified US surveillance programs leaked by an American defense contractor. - "We are going to have a lot more significant revelations that have not yet been heard over the next several weeks and months," Glenn Greenwald of The Guardian told AP. Greenwald added that the decision is in the works as to when the next story will be published based on former CIA contractor Edward Snowden’s leaked information. Snowden, a 29-year-old former technical assistant for the CIA and current employee of the defense contractor Booz Allen Hamilton revealed the existence of PRISM, the National Security Agency’s (NSA) massive data mining surveillance program which gave the agency backdoor access to emails, videos, chats, photos and search queries from nine worldwide tech giants.

Permalink Obama under fire in Europe and US for NSA's massive spying net

US President Barack Obama has come under growing criticism over the country’s massive electronic surveillance bids across America and Europe as European leaders demand more details on the spying efforts from the US government. - Describing themselves as “stunned” over recent revelations of an extensive US surveillance program that included European citizens, top officials in Europe said Monday they would ask Washington for more information on the issue and discuss measures to further boost their already rigorous privacy laws, The Washington Post reports Tuesday. The disappointment expressed by European authorities, the report says, pointed to the extent of the “fallout from the affair and to the potential for fresh strains between the United States and allies wary of American intrusiveness.”

Ryan Gallagher: In Light of PRISM, Furious European Politicians to Fight Back Against U.S. Surveillance Overreach - Before the disclosure of PRISM, a handful of European politicians were trying to amend data protection regulations to shield against suspected sweeping secret U.S. surveillance programs. The politicians’ concerns seemed to fall on deaf ears. However, the disclosure of PRISM has provided a level of confirmation that the suspicions were not rooted in paranoia, and the importance of this cannot be overstated. It has finally jolted senior European officials into action. European member of parliament on PRISM: “We really need to wake up. This is serious stuff. The government knowing everything, literally everything about us, and we are unable to exercise any meaningful democratic scrutiny? That is not a democracy.”

Permalink DOJ & FBI Raid News Media Offices After Releasing an Alarming Story on President Obama!

Within hours of publishing a scathing story on President Obama (http://wp.me/p3dd01-Yp) the DOJ raided the offices of the National Report claiming the raid was lawful under the USA Patriot Act but refusing to say why the government was taking the action. - At about 12:50 this afternoon the National Report released a damning story on the Obama birth certificate scandal providing new evidence which clearly shows the document to be fraudulent. According to Sheriff Joe Arpaio, his Cold Case Posse has the evidence to prove the presidents birth certificate was computer generated using Adobe Illustrator. Cold Case Posse lead investigator Mike Zullo, revealed for the first time that his findings have been confirmed in a 40 page report by Reed Hayes, a Certified Documents Examiner (CDE) from Hawaii. The birth certificate posted to the White House website clearly shows it was forged using cut & paste methods in several layers. At about 2:08 pm employees at the National Report were shocked when dozens of black clad machine gun toting DOJ agents wearing black masks entered the National Report office forcing everyone to the ground while demanding they put their hands on top their heads. After securing all employees FBI agents entered and began questioning employees and seizing files and other documents.

Permalink Rapporteur takes Israel to task at UN forum

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on Palestinian Human Rights has condemned the Israeli regime for its long-time occupation of Palestinian territories and violation of the human rights of the Palestinians. - Richard Falk made the remarks on Monday while presenting his latest report at a meeting of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. “Forty-six years ago today Israel's occupation of Palestine began. Six days of war has turned into 46 years of occupation,” Falk told the Geneva forum. He described the treatment of “thousands of Palestinians detained or imprisoned by Israel” as being “extremely worrisome,” and called for an international inquiry into the situation of Palestinians in Israeli prisons. He said there are 5,000 Palestinians in Israeli custody at the moment and 750,000 Palestinians have gone through detention in Israeli jails since the regime’s occupation of the Palestinian territories began in 1967.

Permalink Must See Video: Reality of life for fishermen in Gaza – 6 miles of sea

Zakaria Baker, head of the committee for fishermen in Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC) explains the reality for fishermen in Gaza, following Israel re-extending the permitted sailing area for Palestinians from three to six nautical miles. Despite this ‘allowance’, Palestinian fishermen have recently been attacked and their boats confiscated by the Israeli military when they were well inside the previously allowed three nautical miles.

It has been five years since Israel imposed its oppressive and inhuman blockade on the Gaza Strip. Without doubt it has been easily one of the toughest and most trying periods in the eventful history of the Palestinian people. The proud and fiercely independent people, however, have refused to give in to Israeli diktats or allow their fighting spirit to waver under the totally asphyxiating blockade of Gaza by land, air and sea.

However, the Palestinians have had a monumental price to pay for their defiance. The United Nations report on Gaza, issued to mark the five nightmarish years of Israeli siege on Tuesday, makes for disturbing reading and must come as a wake-up call to the world’s sleeping conscience. The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) has slammed Israel for the acute humanitarian crisis in Gaza, warning of a humanitarian catastrophe.

Permalink Israeli Holocaust survivor turned organ trafficker arrested in Rome

During a routine passport check at Rome's Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport, the identity of a seemingly harmless old man raised the suspicion of Italian airport security personnel. - After running the man's name through the system, officials were shocked to discover he was one of the most wanted organ traffickers in the world. Gedalia Tauber, 77 – a Holocaust survivor, an ex-Shayetet 13 soldier and formerly the head of Tel Aviv District Police's fraud investigation unit – is suspected of cooperating with a number of Brazilian nationals in orchestrating an international organ smuggling ring spreading from Brazil to South Africa to Israel. Together with his South American coconspirators, Tauber is suspected of harvesting and trading in the organs of some 19 Brazilians. In January 2002 an international warrant for his arrest was issued by a Brazilian court and in 2003 he was arrested in the country and sentenced to 11 years for his role in the ring. According to details attained by the police during Tauber's investigation, the ring offered $6,000-12,000 per kidney donation, and all of the medical procedures involved took place in South Africa. Tauber was scheduled for release in September 2012, however, during a 30-day furlough in 2009 he escaped, and has been on the lam since then with all traces of his whereabouts lost – until now, with his sudden reappearance in Rome this weekend.

SPOOF: U.S. Senator John McCain called for the invasion of Hong Kong today in response to recent leaks about secret surveillance programs. In an interview with BBC World News, the hawkish Republican said that by hosting the leaker, Edward Snowden, Hong Kong has proven itself to be an enemy of the United States. "Either you're with us or you're against us," McCain explained to anchor Freddie Lyon, "and clearly the nation of Hong Kong is against us. By harboring this known cybercriminal they pose a clear and present danger to the American people. "I don't want to hear about extradition or rendition or any of that nonsense. This man is a traitor and if we don't get him within 24 hours I say we need to start bombing the hell out of Hong Kong. "Luckily this is a tiny country with no real military to speak of. I don't expect any resistance. We could probably destroy their infrastructure and occupy the entire country by the end of the week."
