Permalink ‘They’re robbing us’: 12-year-old exposes Canada’s banking flaws, goes viral

Economists around the world are struggling to break free of the clutches of the financial crisis but a Canadian girl explains exactly what needs to be done. Victoria Grant, 12, became an overnight Internet sensation after a video of her slamming Canada’s banks and the government for robbing the people, went viral.

What I’ve discovered is that banks and the government have colluded to financially enslave the people of Canada,” she said at Pubic Banking Institute conference in Philadelphia. In her interview with RT, the child economist expressed her concern that the Canadian government has been borrowing money from private banks and putting the people into debt. “And they are not doing anything about this. So they are just standing by and watching the private banks make us pay compounded interest.” “It has become painfully obvious even for me, a 12-year-old Canadian, that we are being defrauded and robbed by the banking system and a complicit government,” Victoria stated in her speech at the conference. Until the 1970s, the Canadian government borrowed money directly from the Bank of Canada. But in recent decades, it has been borrowing from private banks instead which results in the government paying extra in interest rates to cover private banks’ profit margins. The prodigy’s solution to her country’s financial problems is that the government “should stop borrowing from private banks and start borrowing from the Bank of Canada with little to no interest.”

Permalink Western banks 'reaping billions from Colombian cocaine trade'

While cocaine production ravages countries in Central America, consumers in the US and Europe are helping developed economies grow rich from the profits, a study claims. - The vast profits made from drug production and trafficking are overwhelmingly reaped in rich "consuming" countries – principally across Europe and in the US – rather than war-torn "producing" nations such as Colombia and Mexico, new research has revealed. And its authors claim that financial regulators in the west are reluctant to go after western banks in pursuit of the massive amount of drug money being laundered through their systems. The most far-reaching and detailed analysis to date of the drug economy in any country – in this case, Colombia – shows that 2.6% of the total street value of cocaine produced remains within the country, while a staggering 97.4% of profits are reaped by criminal syndicates, and laundered by banks, in first-world consuming countries.

Permalink Pro-Assads were ‘picked’ by killers in Houla massacre: US author - Video

An American author says armed groups in Syria had “picked out” pro-government Syrians in the May 25 massacre in the western town of Houla that left more than 100 people dead, Press TV reports. - The people who were targeted in Houla… were loyal to the Assad government, they were picked out, they were targeted for assassination,” said Stephen Lendman, a writer and radio host from Chicago, in an interview with Press TV on Monday.

“These insurgents, these kill gangs… are Western-recruited mercenaries coming from nearby regional countries. These are coming in by the thousands… They come in at different times and this has been going on for a long time.”

Lendman also stated that some Western governments have “special forces” on the ground in Syria helping the armed groups. Armed groups continue attacks inside Syria despite a ceasefire that took effect on April 12 and was part of a six-point peace plan presented by the UN-Arab League envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan, in March.

Permalink Warning: World Net Daily (WND) Posting CIA DoD Propaganda

Relentless Neo-Con propaganda originating from "conservative" news agency. - "Reza Kahlili is a pseudonym for a former CIA operative in Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and author of the award-winning book, “A Time to Betray.” He is a senior fellow with EMPact America and teaches at the U.S. Department of Defense’s Joint Counterintelligence Training Academy." This is the biography following a series of articles featured on World Net Daily (WND) which targets Iran with the disingenuous Neo-Conservative narrative that it is a dangerous theocratic nation seeking global hegemony. Kahili's articles include, "Iran: Our nukes proof of Islamic power," and "Iran: Discovery will collapse Christianity," all designed to instill fear across well-intentioned, but susceptible conservative readers who may be unaware that the very propagandists behind these tall tales have conspired for years against Iran, admitting in their own think-tank documents, like Brookings Institution's "Which Path to Persia?" that Iran poses no threat to the world, but only to Western hegemonic aspirations throughout the Middle East. In fact, it is these very people who are on record, supporting listed terrorist organizations with the blood of Americans on their hands - organizations like Mujahideen-e-Khalq (MEK).

Permalink Owner of dairy factory hit by Israel urges world action

GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- The owner of a dairy factory in the Gaza Strip, which was flattened by an Israeli airstrike before dawn Monday, called for an international committee to prove his business does not store weapons. - The Dalloul dairy factory, in the al-Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, was destroyed in the third day of airstrikes on the coastal enclave, leaving one person moderately injured. Israel's army said it had "targeted a weapon manufacturing facility and a terror tunnel in the northern Gaza Strip," in response to rocket fire on communities in southern Israel. Factory owner Abu Haroun Dalloul told Ma'an the bombing was the fourth time his factory has been targeted in recent years. The facility was previously destroyed in Israel's war on Gaza in January 2009. He called on Arab and Islamic nations, as well as the European Union, to form a committee to prove his factory does not store weapons. The business sustained an estimated loss of $300,000 after Sunday's strike, Dalloul said, noting he had just purchased a new processor at a cost of $80,000.

Permalink “Casserole” protests in support of Quebec students spread across Canada

A new form of protest, “casserole” demonstrations, emerged last month in response to the Quebec Liberal government’s imposition of Bill 78—a draconian law that criminalizes the four-month-old province-wide student strike and places sweeping new restrictions on the right to demonstrate whatever the cause.

Initially promoted by only a handful of individuals through social media, the call for people to congregate in their neighbourhoods and bang on pots and pans so as to support the striking students and oppose Bill 78 struck a chord. Over the course of a few days, the nightly casserole protest mushroomed across working class districts of Montreal. Thousands of people poured into the streets, defying the new restrictions on demonstrations and voicing their opposition to the Liberal government. From such Montreal working class neighborhoods as Villeray and Rosemont, the casserole protests spread to the suburbs of Laval and Longueuil and Quebec’s other major urban centers. Within less than a week, casserole demonstrations were being organized even in remote mining towns like Sept-Isles and Rouyn-Noranda.
