Permalink Google is building 180 satellites "to spread internet access worldwide"

Google's plans for satellite-based internet access just got a little more concrete. The Wall Street Journal hears that the search firm is preparing to build 180 "small, high capacity" satellites that will go into low orbit and provide internet connections to underserved areas. While details aren't forthcoming about the machines, there may be more on the way; reportedly, the company could "double" its vehicle count if all goes well. A spokeswoman didn't confirm or deny the efforts, but did note that having an internet link "significantly improves people's lives." [-How touching!]

Permalink West Supports Kiev as it Escalates its Assault on Eastern Ukraine Shelling Residential Areas

The Ukraine crisis has become a civil war, and the West is backing the aggressor. Just one week after being elected Western Ukraine's new president, the billionaire chocolate king Petro Poroshenko, is already showing his true colors. Leading up to the elections, Poroshenko was calling for dialogue with the East, however, now that the elections are over and the Washington elites have given their blessing, he has done a complete about face.

“I am not going to hold any dialogues with the criminals. You don’t talk to terrorists,” he said. “The anti-terrorist operation will not and cannot last for months, it will last just for hours.” Poroshenko told the Kyiv Post on May 26th.

Interesting how Poroshenko refers to the pro-autonomy forces as terrorists, when as of yet the east has not launched one single attack into western territory. Using tanks and gunships to put down a region which carried out referendum to declare its independence = OK, to burn protesters alive in Odessa = OK, for those separatists to defend themselves = TERRORISM.

Permalink Pentagon pressures South Korea to join anti-missile system

The United States last week stepped up pressure on South Korea to take part in Washington’s regional anti-ballistic missile system. The South Korean government has in the past been reluctant to take part, rather focusing on its own indigenous program. The incorporation of South Korea into the existing US partnership on so-called “missile defence” with Japan would further inflame regional tensions. The Wall Street Journal last Tuesday reported that “the US has conducted a site survey in South Korea for possible locations for a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) ballistic missile system.” However, officials told the newspaper that no final decision had been taken. According to one defense official, Washington could try to convince South Korea to purchase a THAAD system, either directly or by installing it first at a US military base in South Korea and later selling to Seoul. The system is designed to intercept short, medium and intermediate range ballistic missiles up to an altitude of 150 kilometers and comes equipped with the X-band radar system. The US plans to purchase seven THAAD systems, but as of now, only three are operational. Last year, the US military placed one on Guam, ostensibly in response to the North Korean “threat.”

Permalink Suspect in Brussels shooting linked to Western-backed Syrian opposition

A 29-year-old French citizen, Mehdi Nemmouche, was arrested by police at Saint-Charles station in the southern French city of Marseille on Friday, on a bus from Amsterdam via Brussels. He faces charges of carrying out the May 24 shooting at the Jewish museum in Brussels that killed four people: a French national, an Israeli couple, and a Belgian museum employee. Nemmouche apparently traveled to train with Al Qaeda-linked Islamist opposition militias in Syria that France, the United States, and their European and Middle East allies have backed to topple Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. This underscores that the reactionary policies of the Socialist Party (PS) government of French President François Hollande may have played a significant role in the crime.

Permalink Document collection for Operation Gladio

Originally aired on BBC2 in 1992, 'Operation Gladio' reveals 'Gladio', the secret state-sponsored terror network operating in Europe. This BBC series is about a far-right secret army, operated by the CIA and MI6 through NATO, which killed hundreds of innocent Europeans and attempted to blame the deaths on Baader Meinhof, Red Brigades and other left wing groups. Known as 'stay-behinds' these armies were given access to military equipment which was supposed to be used for sabotage after a Soviet invasion. Instead it was used in massacres across mainland Europe as part of a CIA Strategy of Tension. Gladio killing sprees in Belgium and Italy were carried out for the purpose of frightening the national political classes into adopting U.S. policies.

Permalink Spain's King Juan Carlos Abdicates

Spain's King Juan Carlos has decided to abdicate for political reasons rather than because of his ailing health, a source at the royal palace told Reuters on Monday. "It's a political decision. He is abdicating given the new challenges in Spain because he thinks it's necessary to make way for the new generation," the source said. The king made the decision to step down in January and told Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and Socialist opposition leader Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba of it in April, added the source. The announcement was delayed until after the European elections to avoid affecting the vote, the source said.

Permalink Paul Craig Roberts - The Crisis in Ukraine & The Geopolitical Chess Game - Audio

Paul Craig Roberts has had careers in scholarship and academia, journalism, public service, and business. Roberts is probably best known for being the Assistant Secretary of the US Treasury for Economic Policy in the Reagan Administration. He was associate editor and columnist with the Wall Street Journal, columnist for Business Week and the Scripps Howard News Service. He is a contributing editor to Gerald Celente's Trends Journal. He is the author of numerous books, including his most recent, How America Was Lost: From 9/11 to the Police/Warfare State. He is currently chairman of The Institute for Political Economy. In this program, we discuss the neo-con’s war agenda and how the Ukraine fits into the Wolfowitz doctrine. We talk about the violent Coup d'état in Kiev and who has been the driving factor behind the illegitimate takeover of the country. Paul also discusses the inconsistencies in the various political factions that have been helping each other in order to take control of the Ukraine. Washington’s willingness to work with anyone, including criminals, in order to achieve their goals is no big surprise but is speaks volumes about their ambitions to remain in power. Later, we discuss Putin’s Russia and how vastly different the roles are today, than just 25 years ago and what the grudge between the west’s elite and Russia is about. Paul explains how the USA is losing more and more influence around the world. He paints a picture of no more superpowers and what power dynamic will replace it. Later, we discuss the future of the American dollar, multicultural madness in Europe and the next step in the geopolitical chess game. Paul Craig Roberts on Another Worls Is Possible
