Permalink Commentary on the Results of the NATO Ministerial Council Meeting

Maria Zakharova (Мария Захарова)(МИД России 🇷🇺) | On April 4-5, the meetings of the North Atlantic Council at the level of foreign ministers took place in Brussels. | The event was dedicated not only to the preparation of the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius this summer, but also coincided with the 74th anniversary of the existence of the alliance, this rudiment of the Cold War, which, according to the plan of its founders, was supposed to ensure the superiority of the collective West over the rest of the world.  In fact, the alliance has nothing to brag about. NATO allies have a record of wars, turning states into ruins, unpunished war crimes, killing civilians and destroying civilian infrastructure. Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya. Who is next?  At the same time, representatives of the North Atlantic bloc do not get tired of repeating that it is a defensive alliance. But the entire history of the organization speaks to the contrary. Here and now we see how NATO, seeking to usurp the entire system of European security, is again expanding towards Russia, posing a threat to our security.  Finland became another victim of the North Atlantic Alliance. Its authorities decided to say goodbye to the longstanding neutrality of their country in exchange for turning it into a frontline zone, a bridgehead to contain Russia in the north-west direction.  As we can see, NATO does not intend to stop there. Stoltenberg, the alliance's secretary general, is making increasingly frequent statements about the alliance's global role and the need to move beyond its traditional area of responsibility, the Euro-Atlantic. In fact, the basis is being laid for the widespread imposition of NATO-centric approaches to the construction of regional security systems. Hence, the pumping of Ukraine with weapons and motivating it to continue the war with Russia, attacks on China, flirting with Japan and South Korea, and plans to militarize the Arctic. Everything is done to make the world even more dangerous, to prevent the existence of alternative centers of power capable of undermining Western hegemony.  All in all, it is safe to say that security and NATO are incompatible. In this connection, only one conclusion arises - at 74, the North Atlantic bloc should retire. (Translation with: DeepL.com)

Permalink Stoltenberg Says Ukraine Must Win the War to Become a NATO Member

He also says NATO will work on making Ukraine more interoperable with the alliance as a long-term project | NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Wednesday that in order for Ukraine to become a NATO member, it must prevail in its war with Russia and become more interoperable with the Western military alliance.  “NATO’s position is that Ukraine will become a member of the alliance, and that position has not changed. But we know that there are at least two things you need to address to make that possible. One is that we need to ensure that Ukraine prevails as a sovereign, independent nation,” Stoltenberg told reporters in Brussels.  “The second thing we need to address is that when this war ends and Ukraine prevails, then, of course, we need to ensure that we have the highest level of interoperability, that Ukraine is able to move from Soviet-era standards, doctrines, ways of operating their armed forces,” he added.

Maria Zakharova (Мария Захарова)(Russian MFA / МИД России 🇷🇺) "Stoltenberg: Ukraine will become a member of NATO only when it wins the conflict with Russia." — Another synonym for the word 'never'.

Permalink 82% Of Berlin Voters Refused To Support 2030 Climate Neutrality

But don’t expect the climate radicals to go away. They’ll be back at it soon enough. | Last Sunday’s “Berlin Climate Neutrality By 2030” referendum failed resoundingly despite the more than a million euros spent in a massive run-up campaign that included plastering the city with posters, concerts by famous performers, huge support and propaganda by the media, and hefty donations coming from activists in the USA. Once the dust of the referendum had settled, it emerged that the “yes” side fell way short of the quorum of 608,000 votes needed to pass the measure. Only 442,210 cast a vote in favor, which represents only 18 percent of Berlin’s eligible voters. The activists expected a far greater turnout. 82 percent voted ‘No’.
