Permalink WaPo: Everybody who is anybody loves Stanley Fischer

Xymphora: WaPo: Everybody who is anybody loves Stanley Fischer" (Sailer, and there are many more recent Sailer postings on Fischer, e. g., "Macroeconomic wizardry v. conflicts of interest", where we see that the latest, and not at all inappropriate, euphemism for 'Jew' is 'macroeconomist'):

A "decent interval" between his two jobs ... Nobody can say Obama is appointing Israel's central banker; they have to say he is appointing a former central banker for Israel. That could have been decades ago, right? You might almost think that Fischer's decision to resign early from his Israeli job was because he was tipped off about getting the American job, but that would be a conspiracy theory, so it's wrong. To posit a conspiracy theory, you'd have to believe that Stanley Fischer, Ben Bernanke, Janet Yellen, and Larry Summers are all friends.

Permalink NSA spying on world computers

A new report has revealed that the US National Security Agency has illegally implemented software in nearly 100,000 computers around the world to spy on them. The software enables the US spy agency to conduct surveillance on the computers and can create a digital highway for launching cyber attacks, The New York Times reported Tuesday. The newspaper cited NSA documents, computer experts and US officials in its report about the use of a secret technology using radio waves to gain access to computers that other countries have tried to protect from spying. The technology, used by the NSA since at least 2008, relies on a covert channel of radio waves that can be transmitted from tiny circuit boards and USB cards inserted covertly into the computers, the Times said. In most cases, the radio frequency hardware must be physically inserted by a spy or manufacturer. The agency calls the effort an "active defense" and has used the technology to monitor units of the Chinese Army, the Russian military, drug cartels, trade institutions inside the European Union.

Permalink Israel, Pentagon 'big winners' in US spending bill

The Pentagon, defense industry and Israel came out as big winners in a bipartisan $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill that would pay for government operations through October, a report says. The massive measure, unveiled Monday night, fleshes out the details of the budget deal that US Congress passed last month. The spending bill provides about $497 billion for the Pentagon in 2014 — about the same as in 2013. In addition, it allocates $85.2 billion for the war in Afghanistan as part of the Pentagon’s overseas contingency operations (OCO), $5 billion more than requested.

Permalink New Memo: Kissinger Gave the "Green Light" for Argentina's Dirty War

Kissinger Gave the "Green Light" for Argentina's Dirty War. "That resulted in the disappearance—that is, deaths—of an estimated 30,000 people." Only a few months ago, Henry Kissinger was dancing with Stephen Colbert in a funny bit on the latter's Comedy Central show. But for years, the former secretary of state has sidestepped judgment for his complicity in horrific human rights abuses abroad, and a new memo has emerged that provides clear evidence that in 1976 Kissinger gave Argentina's neo-fascist military junta the "green light" for the dirty war it was conducting against civilian and militant leftists that resulted in the disappearance—that is, deaths—of an estimated 30,000 people.

Permalink Only US/NATO success in Afghanistan: 40 fold opium increase – Rick Rozoff

Rick Rozoff/John Robles In a review of NATO and US military activity for the year 2013, Voice of Russia regular Rick Rozoff stated that 2013 saw a slowing of, if not the beginning of a reversal of a 22 year US/NATO/Western drive to assert global dominance economically, politically, culturally and militarily. Among the most important events of the last year, if not the last 20, was the stopping of the invasion of Syria by Russia. According to Mr. Rozoff as US/NATO “slinks away with its tail between its legs” from Afghanistan, the only accomplishment they can claim after 13 years of occupation is that opium cultivation has increased by 40 fold. The military monolith of NATO is having a bad time of late and no matter what they say, the fact of the matter is, they have failed. This is part one of a much longer year end interview with Mr. Rozoff. [IM]

Permalink US attacks Israeli minister for 'offensive' remarks about Kerry - Video

The United States has lashed out at Israeli Minister of Military Affairs Moshe Ya'alon for making “offensive and inappropriate” comments about Secretary of State John Kerry. Israeli media reported earlier that during a meeting behind closed doors Ya'alon called Kerry’s efforts for Israeli-Palestinian peace “messianic and obsessive.” In a strong response on Wednesday, US State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that the remarks are "offensive and inappropriate especially given all that the US is doing to support Israel's security needs."

"Secretary of State John Kerry - who has come to us determined and is acting out of an incomprehensible obsession and a messianic feeling - cannot teach me a single thing about the conflict with the Palestinians," Yedioth quoted Yaalon as saying, without specifying when or where he had spoken. "The only thing that can save us is if Kerry wins the Nobel prize and leaves us alone."

Permalink Sharon took “brave decisions” for peace – Cameron

Stuart Littlewood In a statement marking the death of Ariel Sharon, British Prime Minister David Cameron – “Agent Cameron” – said he was “one of the most significant figures in Israeli history and as prime minister he took brave and controversial decisions in pursuit of peace, before he was so tragically incapacitated”. This sickening tribute will not go down well outside Israel.
