Permalink Alleged US Army doc: re-education camps and psy-op missions aimed at activists

An American military document just uncovered appears to detail an US Army plan that calls for detaining “political activists” at re-education camps staffed by military-hired “PSYOP officers” in both America and abroad.

The website Infowars.com has unearthed the smoking gun, a copy of a United States military manual entitled FM 3-39.40 Internment and Resettlement Operations, which appears to offer Defense Department insiders instructions on dealing with the imprisonment of anyone considered an enemy to the American way of life and how to go about indoctrinating them with an “appreciation of US policies and actions” through psychological warfare. The PDF made available is dated February 2010 but has only now been leaked online. A copy of the document has been uploaded to the website PublicIntelligence.net for viewing, and additionally a version appears to be hosted on the US Military’s Doctrine and Training Publications page at armypubs.us.army.mil, although access to papers published there are unavailable to those without the Pentagon’s authorization, therefore making it impossible to verify the authenticity of the manual at this time. The military site that appears to host a copy has also implemented security measures on its servers that it cautions visitors are “not for your personal benefit or privacy.” (Video)

Permalink US deploys F-22 fighter jets to UAE: officials

The United States has deployed sophisticated F-22 fighter jets to the United Arab Emirates amid deepening tensions between Iran and its pro-US neighbors, officials said Monday. - The US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, would not say how many F-22s would be sent to the Al-Dhafra air base in the United Arab Emirates. Military officers tend to avoid publicly discussing details of operations at the US air base. An Air Force spokeswoman confirmed that a number of F-22 Raptors, the most advanced fighter in the US fleet, would be deployed to the region without mentioning the base or Iran.

Permalink Americans renounced their citizenship in record numbers in 2011

If you think residing in America is taxing, just talk to one of the many expatriates who is contributing to a shocking statistic recently discovered: across the globe, people are renouncing their US citizenship in record numbers. - At least 1,788 Americans officially threw away their US citizenship in 2011, exceeding the totals from 2007, 2008 and 2009 combined. The Internal Revenue Service has been keeping a tally of US citizens driven to renouncing that title since only 1998, but last year’s number has officially raised the bar when it comes to calling America quits. What’s more, experts say, is that more and more Americans will soon be saying 'sayonara' to Uncle Sam if the federal government keeps up its trend of heavily taxing US citizens abroad.

Permalink Ex-Mossad Chief Meir Dagan says ruling regime in Israel more dangerous than ‘Iranian threat’

Former Mossad Chief, Meir Dagan, has said that Yuval Diskin, the former director of Shin Bet (Israel’s Security Agency), was speaking his “internal truth” when he criticized Israel’s Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, and Defence Minister, Ehud Barak. - Dagan made his statements on Sunday at a conference organized by the Jerusalem Post and held at the Marion Hotel in New York. The conference was attended by former Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, and former IDF chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi. Dagan described Diskin as a good friend and a serious person speaking his “internal truth”. Dagan has criticized the ruling Likud Party’s intention to pass the “Dagan Law” which entails imposing restrictions on statements made by the heads of security apparatuses. In an interview to the Israeli newspaper Maariv, Dagan asserted that the Israeli regime is more dangerous than the Iranian threat which he downplayed. He said that the “real threat” to Israel is the ruling regime, and that Israel is on the brink of the abyss.

Israel has taken delivery of its fourth German-made Dolphin-class submarine capable of carrying nuclear warheads with an operating range of 4,500 kilometers (2796 miles).

Israel had placed order with Germany for the submarine as well as its fifth Dolphin-class sub in 2006, while, in 2012, the two sides signed a contract for a sixth such submarine. The fifth and sixth orders are due for delivery in 2014 and 2016 respectively. Three earlier-model Dolphin submarines were delivered to Israel between 1998 and 2000.

Permalink Hamas slams Israel's decision to close file of slain family in Gaza

The Hamas Movement condemned Israel's decision to close its investigation of those responsible for massacring Al-Samouni family during its aggression against the Gaza Strip in 2009. - Its spokesman Fawzi Barhoum slammed the decision as a green light for Israeli soldiers to commit more atrocities against the Palestinians with impunity. Spokesman Barhoum said the failure of the international community and the UN to take deterrent measures against Israel and its leaders encourages it to cover up its crimes and escape justice. "Such decision will not deter us from continuing to expose the occupation's crimes and cornering it internationally, legally and officially until those responsible for committing crimes against our people are brought to trial," the spokesman stressed. He also urged the international human rights organizations to start immediately legal moves against Israel.

Permalink DOZENS OF ARRESTS AS PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY PAVES THE WAY TO INTERNET MONITORING

Yesterday I reported with disgust about the new Israeli military censor’s plans to monitor FaceBook, Twitter and Blogs. - Well, guess what, PA security forces have arrested dozens of Palestinian journalists, bloggers, students and activists in recent weeks. Many have been detained for statements they made on social networking sites like Facebook that were critical of the PA, while others were targeted for articles and other work they published. It looks like Israel’s representative in the Occupied West Bank beat the master to this...

Permalink EU PLOT TO SCRAP BRITAIN

SENIOR Eurocrats are secretly plotting to create a super-powerful EU president to realise their dream of abolishing Britain, we can reveal. - A covert group of EU foreign ministers has drawn up plans for merging the jobs currently done by Herman Van Rompuy, president of the European Council, and Jose Manuel Barroso, president of the European Commission. The new bureaucrat, who would not be directly elected by voters, is set to get sweeping control over the entire EU and force member countries into ever-greater political and economic union. Opponents fear the plan could create a modern-day equivalent of the European emperor envisaged by Napoleon Bonaparte or a return to the Holy Roman Empire of Charlemagne that dominated Europe in the Dark Ages. They are concerned that David Cameron’s coalition Government is doing nothing to prevent the sinister plot. The secret talks were uncovered by Independent Labour peer Lord Stoddart of Swindon.

Permalink Criminalizing Gaddafi Support

Now that "democracy" has come to Libya, the people finally get to chose their leaders. As usual, the field to choose from will be narrowed by many, often invisible, factors. The largest and most important is set up now - no Gaddafi loyalists or anyone connected with the hyper-demonized old system or representing any of its ideals will be allowed. No matter how many people might want it, and perhaps because many will want it, the new leaders so indebted to the West will not allow it. Freedom isn't free and it's also got limits. Those not allowed to hold public office, as Morrow writes:

Virtually everyone who worked at any level of Moammar Gaddafi’s former government is barred, unless they can demonstrate “early and clear support for the February 17th revolution.”

An Arizona man who on Wednesday reportedly killed four people, including a 47-year-old grandmother and a 15-month-old infant, and then took his own life was also a former Republican Party official, a former white supremacist neo-Nazi and the founder of a border patrol vigilante group that advocated using violence on immigrants. Permalink Soros-run Human Rights Watch demonizes emergent state of Azawad

A month ago, ethnic Tuareg fighters seized the northern stretches of Mali as it reeled from a coup, declaring a new state of their own called Azawad. Mali has so far failed to dislodge the rebels, but the Tuareg stab at independence has fallen flat internationally, winning scant support. The would-be state has been rejected by the African Union, the European Union and the United States since it declared itself. The African Union shuns changing any borders, let alone creating new nations, as part of a pact agreed to decades ago to quash conflict.

Permalink An Indonesian civil servant who posted "God doesn't exist" on Facebook faces 11 years in Jail

When Alex Aan picked up a copy of Karen Armstrong's Holy War from his local library in west Sumatra in 2005, he had little inkling of his own religious battle to come. But after posting "God doesn't exist" on Facebook, the soft-spoken civil servant, 30, faces up to 11 years in jail for what is considered blasphemy in Indonesia. His case has stoked a debate in the world's most populous Muslim nation, whose 240 million citizens are technically guaranteed freedom of religion but protected by law only if they believe in one of six credos: Islam, Catholicism, Protestantism, Buddhism, Confucianism and Hinduism. Those who question any of those face five years in prison for "insulting a major religion", plus an additional six years if they use the internet to spread such "blasphemy" to others.

Permalink US Congressman advocates meditation, mindfulness as solution to global conflict

It is no big secret that much of the world is in great economic, social, and political turmoil today. But one congressman's solution to the problem is far different than what you might expect, and advocates of his approach say it could benefit the healthcare system, schools, the military, the economy, and ultimately human health.

In his new book A Mindful Nation, Representative Tim Ryan of Ohio's 17th District advocates a practice known as "mindful meditation," which he has long suggested could fix the social ills of our day, including chronic stress and illness. Drawing from concepts found in the Buddhist religion, mindful meditation involves refocusing the mind to eliminate stress and promote positive thinking. Mindful meditation is a whole lot more than that, of course, but these are its basic tenets.
