Dying from Bombs Easier: A Woman Tells about Starvation in North Gaza

Staff, Middle East Eye

The famine in northern Gaza, caused by “Israel’s” strangling siege, has reached extreme levels, Palestinian residents said. There have been several reports of people dying from malnutrition, including infants.  Life for over half a million people there now revolves around a single task every day: finding something to eat. In this following account, a resident of Gaza City, who did not wish to be named, recounts to the struggle to survive in a war-torn city.

💬 “Things are difficult. Getting anything has become a difficult task, even simple things like sugar, salt and rice. We go on looking for them everywhere, even in old shops and abandoned homes. If and when we find them in shops, they are sold at crazy prices. About four days ago, around 800 bags of wheat flour came in. There are up to 700,000 people in northern Gaza. This means one bag for around every 1,000 people or so. My cousin was among those people who managed to get a bag. It's 25kg. He distributed it among our extended family and each of us got one kilo. Just like everyone else in Gaza, my sister and I mixed our share with corn and soy flour. We do this to increase the quantity. I spent three hours in the morning starting the fire and cooking it, and in the end, it wasn't good. It was hard, uncooked and tasted weird. My sister started crying and I tried to calm her by saying we could add thyme to it and eat it that way. Then I visited my aunt's house and they were struggling to get the fire started because the remaining wood in Gaza is not good. So, I spent the next three hours helping them. After that, I went to my uncle's house and they had the same problem, so I helped them. My uncle didn't seem right to me during the visit. I asked him what was wrong and he didn't answer.

Beaten, Stripped, Used as Human Shield: Gaza Victim Recalls “Israel” Terror

Maram Humaid, Al-Jazeera

Blood all over his face, and his eyes swollen, Ramadan Shamlakh arrived at a hospital after passersby found him struggling to walk southwards from northern Gaza.

The 21-year-old man said he had endured beatings, a stripping and a war crime – he was used as a human shield – by “Israeli “soldiers when they raided his family home in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City on Tuesday morning.

His story, and his desperate escape on foot to the south, came as the “Israeli” army renewed its ground military operations in the neighborhood in the east of Gaza City, prompting residents to flee again towards al-Shifa Hospital to the city’s west.

Shamlakh was at home with his mother, his injured brother, and his four sisters, when they were all surprised by tanks advancing and surrounding them in the area.

💬 “It was around 6:30 a.m. when the ‘Israeli’ soldiers blew up a wall in our house and then opened fire randomly at us.” “The soldiers brutally attacked me and my brother, who has been suffering from a foot injury since the 2014 war, and beat us extensively,” Shamlakh said. “We [told] them that we were civilians, and it was not our fault, but to no avail,” Shamlakh told Al Jazeera, while receiving treatment at Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Hospital in Deir el-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.

Sayyed Nasrallah: Price of Our Spilled Civilian Blood is “Israeli” Blood, Our Rockets Are Able to Reach “Eilat”

Alahed News, Live Coverage

Hezbollah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Nasrallah delivered on Friday a speech at the festival commemorating the Martyr Leaders Day.

Sayyed Nasrallah started his speech by thanking the huge turnout participating in the festival Martyr Leaders Day festivities in different Lebanese cities.

“The martyr leaders are today greatly present and guiding us towards the stance and goals,” Hezbollah Secretary General said while asking, “If our leaders were among us, what stance would they have taken regarding the aggression on Gaza? Would it be neutrality or supporting the oppressed Palestinian people?”

His Eminence spoke of the strength of the Resistance and its people saying that victory is eminent saying, “Today, we are stronger and we have greater hope and certainty of the coming victory”.

“Everyone belonging to resistance is ready to sacrifice their lives for the Cause and the clear example is our martyred Leaders,” Sayyed Nasrallah explained.

In his speech, Sayyed Nasrallah spoke of the most important characteristic of the convoys of martyrs, wounded, detainees, fighters and good honorable people from the beginning of the “Israeli” entity’s existence until today is that no matter how great the sacrifices are, they won’t be weakened.

"Whoever Believes the Muslim World has an Alternative to Resistance is Highly Delusional"

Alahed News & Staff

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation engraved a lasting defeat deep in the conscience of the Zionists.

“The myth has been shattered, the model has been shattered, prestige has vanished, the project has been shaken, and the cause that they worked to stifle for so long has returned to the forefront of all the walls of the world.”

Sayyed Nasrallah made the remarks in a letter he sent to the 12th International Conference of Gaza: Symbol of Resistance, which was held in Tehran. Hezbollah’s representative in the Iranian capital Sayyed Abdullah Safi al-Din read the letter.

“Titling your conference with the slogan ‘Gaza: Symbol of Resistance’ and timing it to coincide with a crucial moment in history when the Palestinian resistance is engaged in a major battle against the Zionist war of annihilation demonstrates the sense of responsibility of those involved in managing the conference and their blessed heeding of the call to stand by the Palestinian people, their cause, and their resistance.

“This requires all of us to bear great responsibilities and constant mobilization to rally the nation’s capabilities in support of the Palestinian people and their valiant resistance, which today, with its sacrifices, heroism, the blood of its men, and the steadfastness of its people, is truly writing the future of the nation, preserving its dignity, and consolidating its strength.”

His Eminence continued, “What ‘Israel’ lost to date in Gaza in terms of officers and soldiers at the hands of Palestinian resistance groups is many times greater than what it lost in the 1967 War. The ‘Israeli’ Army, which during the Six-Day War occupied more than 69,000 km2, is being defeated today on a part of the Gaza Strip. It is unable to achieve a goal or declare an occupation or an approaching victory. Rather, it retreats under the pretext of moving to a new stage. Therefore, it is natural and correct for the conference’s slogan to be ‘Gaza: Symbol of Resistance’. Gaza today is a symbol because there is an honorable, brave, and proud resistance in Gaza.”

UNICEF: 700k+ Gaza Children Displaced, Calls for Immediate Ceasefire

Alahed News & Agencies

The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund [UNICEF] says more than 700,000 children in Gaza have been displaced amid brutal “Israeli” strikes against the coastal enclave.

In a post on social media platform X on Monday, UNICEF said more than 700,000 children in Gaza have been “forced to leave everything behind.” The UN agency also called for “an immediate humanitarian ceasefire” and “sustained and unimpeded access to provide assistance.”

The UN agency earlier warned that children in Gaza are facing a dire humanitarian situation amid an ongoing “Israeli” aggression which has paralyzed medical and healthcare services.

💬 “Children in Gaza are hanging by a thread, particularly in the north,” Adele Khodr, UNICEF Middle East and North Africa Regional Director said on Friday. “Thousands and thousands of children remain in northern Gaza as hostilities intensify. These children have nowhere to go and are at extreme risk. We call for the attacks on health care facilities to stop immediately and for the urgent delivery of fuel and medical supplies to hospitals across all Gaza, including the northern parts of the Strip,” he said.

The UNICEF has already warned that the risk of waterborne and other diseases is rising and “particularly threatens children” amid rare access to safe water and as the total number of displaced people, which exceeded 1.5 million, are living in dreadful sanitation conditions.

US Leads the Genocide in Gaza

Dr. Marwa Osman

With the escalation of the armed confrontations between the Zionist ‘Israeli’ occupation forces and the Palestinian resistance movements mainly in the Gaza enclave, the United States of America began taking procedural steps to strengthen military support for its Zionist allies, in parallel with US President Joe Biden delivering a speech, on October 10, 2023, in which he affirmed the continuation of this support and attacked the Hamas Resistance movement. Through it, he warned “third parties” against interfering in the war directly meaning Hezbollah in south Lebanon. Meanwhile, the Pentagon announced that the US aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford had arrived in the eastern Mediterranean. It also announced that military equipment has already arrived to occupied Palestine.

This is the second time that the ‘Israeli’ entity has requested urgent help from the United States since its establishment on the land of Palestine in 1948. The first was during the October War of 1973, but the difference between the first and the second is extremely important in terms of significance. In the first, ‘Israel’ was facing two regular Arab armies, “Syria and Egypt,” on wide fronts, and in the second, it faced resistance with very modest capabilities confined to the small and besieged Gaza Strip. It is a difference that proves the theory of the erosion of the Zionist “invincible” ‘Israeli’ power now afflicting this entity, compared to the upward trajectory line of the Palestinian resistance.

’We Will Not Be Exiled’ - The Final Messages of Gaza Victims

Nadda Osman

‘Israel’s’ relentless bombing of Gaza since 7 October has flattened entire neighborhoods and left the besieged enclave resembling an apocalyptic nightmare.

The death toll, one month on, has surpassed 10,000 people and includes more than 4,000 children, as places of safety, such as mosques, churches, media centers, hospitals and supermarkets, have been bombed.

On the ground, Gaza's residents describe the air strikes, the constant explosions and near-death experiences.

The surrealism of the situation is seen on social media, as Palestinians use platforms like X, formerly Twitter, and Instagram to get their voices out, only for those same voices to disappear forever after the people who posted them are killed in air strikes.

Many post their stories with the caveat that this message might be their last.

Haytham Harrara, a journalist with Gaza’s government media office, was killed on 3 November. One of his final messages was published on X on 13 October. It reads:

“We will not leave, we will not be exiled, and you will not see anything from us other than steadfastness, certainty and resilience. If it will be migration, then it will be to our occupied lands or straight to God, Lord of the worlds.”

Harrara was pronounced dead at Gaza’s al-Shifa Hospital, one of the area's largest hospitals where thousands have been sheltering and seeking treatment from the ongoing bombardment.
