Palestinians sing their beautiful song

As Israel struts around its enclosed little world, congratulating itself and scolding everyone else, the wails of its victims rise from the rubble that was once Palestine. To the ears of Israel, the screams of little girls makes a beautiful melody, the sound of a job well done, of a lesson learned.

The relatives of Mamdouh Abaid [photo] weep as his body is prepared for funeral. Mamdouh, age 17, was ripped to pieces by one of the thousands of israeli artillery shells Israel has been bombarding Palestinian cities with every day for weeks. Israel's latest terror campaign is, sadly, not particularly different from the terror campaign of last month, or the month before, or the month before that. The daily murder of random Palestinians, daily bombing and shooting, daily mass arrests and humiliation, daily torture and demonization, daily assaults and beatings, daily closing of schools, daily obstruction of basic food and water, the daily mockery and taunts of racist soldiers, the daily home demolitions and land confiscations - there is nothing new in any of this. Zionists have been happily abusing Palestinians for more than a century, and with each passing year, as Zionist butchery grows more wantonly violent, more malicious and obscene, Israelis grow more confident in the fundamental decency and "rightness" of Israel and the innate evil of "the Arab." As international relief workers warn of an entire generation of severely traumatized children, whose most chilling manifestation is a common condition referred to as "constant screaming," and as millions of besieged and deliberately impoverished people are systematically deprived by Israel of literally every basic requirement of human life - food, water, sleep, shelter, medical care - impartial observers warn that Israel's trajectory, moving deeper and deeper into a whirlpool of roaring ethnic hatred, is the trajectory of genocide.

While two out of three Israeli Jews busily parrot Adolf Hitler, explaining that the mere presence of "Arabs" within Israel poses a racial threat to Jews (Ha'aretz, March 22, 2006), Zionist rabbis whip themselves and their followers into paroxyms of ethnic hatred -

"An Arab cannot contaminate what is pure. It is forbidden to blend darkness and light. The nation of Israel is pure and the Arabs are a nation of donkeys. They are an evil disaster, an evil devil, and a nasty affliction. The Arabs are donkeys and beasts. They want to take our girls. They are endowed with true filthiness. There is pure and there is impure, and they are impure." (Rabbi David Batzri, quoted in Ha'aretz, March 22, 2006).

Batzri also adds that homosexuals should be put to death. Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Lewin, executive director of the Rabbinic Congress for Peace, explained that US support for "giving land to the Arabs" made God punish Americans with Hurricane Katrina. These rabbinical exhortations to anti-Palestinian violence rise at times to the explciit call for genocide:

"Compassion towards the wicked is really wickedness. It is along these lines that Rabbi Levi opened his speech in honor of Purim: (Talmud, Megillah, 11a): "If you do not uproot the inhabitants of the Land, and allow them to remain - they will become thorns in your sides, and will cause trouble for you in the Land in which you dwell." (Bamidbar 33:55) The mitzvah, then of wiping out Amalek, actually stems from the value of compassion and kindness - compassion on all those whom Amalek threatens to exterminate. This mitzvah is an ongoing one, and valid even today. Today, too, there are those - driven by a deep-seeded anti-Semitism - who desperately wish to kill us. These are the people whom the Torah commanded us to obliterate, to leave no memory of them." (Rabbi Zalman Baruch Melamed).

This ugly face of Zionism is not a new development, contrary to the wishful thinking of those on the Zionist "left." 100 years ago, when the very first zionists were settling in Palestine, Jewish immigrant and journalist Ahad Ha'am described the racist violence of the early colonists:

"[The Jewish settlers] treat the Arabs with hostility and cruelty, trespass unjustly, beat them shamelessly for no sufficient reason, and even take pride in doing so. The Jews were slaves in the land of their Exile, and suddenly they found themselves with unlimited freedom, wild freedom that only exists in a land like Turkey. This sudden change has produced in their hearts an inclination towards repressive tyranny, as always happens when slave rules." [...] "We are used to thinking of the Arabs as primitive men of the desert, as a donkey-like nation that neither sees nor understands what is going around it. But this is a great error. The Arab, like all sons of Sham, has sharp and crafty mind . . . Should time come when life of our people in Palestine imposes to a smaller or greater extent on the natives, they will not easily step aside." --Ahad Ha'am, "Truth from Palestine", 1897

Zionists have since those days managed to convince first Americans, and then themselves, of the fundamental innocence of Zionism. After blaming "the Arab" for all the violence that Zionism predictably and inevitably caused, Israel today is pursuing its own "Final Solution" to the "Arab problem." That solution is, quite simply, mass ethnic cleansing. After having ethnically cleansed up to half of Palestine in the months before Israel's creation and the 1948 War, and then having ethnically cleansed up to three quarters of Palestine during and shortly after the 1948 War, and then ethnically cleansing up to 85% through annexation and civilian colonization after 1967, Israel is now setting itself to the "urgent" task of ethnically cleansing the remaining 15% of Palestine, the last remaining sliver of land west of the Jordan in which millions of Arabs are still living.

"It is the duty of Israeli leaders to explain to public opinion, clearly and courageously, a certain number of facts that are forgotten with time. The first of these is that there is no Zionism, colonialization, or Jewish State without the eviction of the Arabs and the expropriation of their lands." ---- Ariel Sharon, Israeli Foreign Minister, addressing a meeting of militants from the extreme right-wing Tsomet Party, Agence France Presse, November 15, 1998.

"In...a new war, we must avoid the HISTORIC MISTAKE of the War of Independence [the 1948 war]... and MUST NOT cease fighting until we achieve total victory, the territorial fulfillment of the Land Of Israel." --MK Yigal Allon, 1967

"We Jews, thank God, have nothing to do with the East. [...] The Islamic soul must be broomed out of Eretz-Yisrael. [...Muslims are] yelling rabble dressed up in gaudy, savage rags." --Ze'ev Jabotinsky, November 1939

"One million Arabs are not worth a Jewish fingernail." --Rabbi Yaacov Perrin, Feb. 27, 1994

"The vast majority of West Bank Arabs must be deported... We will have to make an additional decision [inside Israel], banning Israeli Arabs from the political system... We have cultivated a fifth column, a group of traitors of the first degree."
-former Israeli cabinet minister Effi "E is for Ethnic Cleansing" Eitam, September 2006

In closing, while the American media drones on and on and on about Jewish deaths and Jewish suffering and Jewish anxieties and Jewish security - as if Palestinian deaths, suffering, anxiety and above all security are totally irrelevant, or a secondary matter at best - let's take a moment to recall the children who killed so far this year.

A partial list of Palestinian children killed so far this year include the following:

23 January 2006 - Munadel Mohammad Saleh Abu Elai’a, age 13, of El-Mughayer village, Ramallah District. Shot by Israeli forces in the back.

17 March 2006 - Akaber 'Abdul Rahman 'Ezzat Zayed, age 8, of al-Yamoun village, Jenin District. Killed by a live bullet to the head during an Israeli incursion.

25 March 2006 - Hammad Hamdan Musleh, age 16, of Nusseirat refugee camp, Gaza Strip. Killed by Israeli sniper fire from a gun turret overlooking the Gaza Strip.

03 April 2006 - Mohammed Farid Hassan Zayed, age 15, of Qalandya refugee camp, Ramallah District. Killed by an Israeli patrol with five live bullets to the lower part of his body.

07 April 2006 - Bilal Eyad Mohammed Abu al-'Einein, age 5, of Rafah, southern Gaza Strip. Killed by an Israeli rocket along with his father who was the target of the attack.

10 April 2006 - Hadeel Mohammed Rebee’ Ghaben, age 8, of Beit Lahiya, Gaza Strip. Killed by an Israeli shell while in her home.

11 April 2006 - Hadil Ghaban, age 7, of Beit Lahiya, Gaza Strip. Killed when her house wwas bombed by an Israeli mortar.

17 April 2006 - Mamdouh Abaid, age 17, of Gaza City. Killed while in his home by an israeli mortar shell.

Right now some Zionist is skimming over all those boring and unimportant non-Jewish names, and composing a snooty comment about how the absence of a list of Jewish children deaths proves once and for all that I don't care about Jews and am simply an anti-semite. Alas, poor racist, there is no comparable list of Jewish children because although for the last 2000 days, 1 Palestinian child has been killed by Israelis every 52 hours , not a single Jewish child was killed by Palestinians in all of 2006. Not that you'ld know either fact from reading the American press, because while the chipped fingernail of a jew is front page news, the daily wounding, maiming and deaths of Palestinians is simply not deemed worthy of coverage.

Take the latest death listed above, for example. Here is LINK to a report of his death. Now do a google search and see how many news items even mention Mamdouh Abaid by name.

By comparison, the suicide bombing in Tel Aviv has been the top News Item on google continually since the moment it occurred, and there are currently over 2,330 headlines concerning it. Virtually none of them mention that Israel has been indiscriminately bombing the Gaza Strip, launching over 300 massive mortar bombs a day into Palestinian cities every day for the last 2 weeks, killing dozens of people, hospitalizing hundreds, literally terrorizing over a million.
