Permalink Senior IDF Official: "The Action against Iran will be Significant"

A Senior Israeli Defense Force official said tonight "The [Israeli] action against Iran will be significant" | Other Officials in the Israeli government confirm the IDF is preparing a “serious and significant” response to Iran's recent ballistic missile assault, which involved around 200 missiles targeting Israel. While the attack caused damage to airbases, Israel claimed no critical infrastructure or aircraft were affected. Satellite imagery the next day, says otherwise. Possible targets: - Oil production facilities - Strategic sites - Air defense systems - Nuclear facilities.  If Israel retaliates in any meaningful way - the Iranians will escalate! Just how far and destructive these escalations will be for both sides is currently unknowable! All we can be certain of is that escalations will lead to further escalations!

Permalink The 'Birth Pangs' Of The New Middle East May Not Be The Ones The U.S. Has Wished For

Moon of Alabama | How Netanyahu is ‘running rings’ around Biden (Edward Luce) | This has been the general theme of a media campaign for a while. "Natanyahoo is steamrolling Biden and the poor guy can do nothing about it." I do not buy it. One phone call from the White House to the Pentagon would hold resupply flights from the U.S. to Israel. Without constant supply renewal the Israeli Air Force would have to stop its bombing campaigns in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen within days if not within hours. But instead of calling the Pentagon the whole Middle East team around Biden, Antony Blinken, Brett McGurk and IDF soldier Amos Hochstein, has been urging Israel to extend its campaign. They are hoping, like the neoconservatives in 2006 during the Bush administration, for the 'birth pangs of a new Middle East', which will forever change the strategic situation on the ground.

Permalink ‘Pact for the Future’ Shows UNGA Has Become Tool to Ramrod West’s Interests

The United Nations General Assembly pushed through the Pact for the Future on September 22. Russia advised against adopting what it called “a raw and non-consensual text," and then attempted to introduce an amendment to the pact, but the effort was voted down. | By and large, the UN General Assembly has become a tool used by the West to promote its interests, Igor Shatrov, head of the Expert Council of Russia’s Strategic Development Fund, told Sputnik. 💬 “Most of the decisions that are made at the level of the General Assembly proceed from the position that Western countries adhere to,” he noted. This explains why the Russia-proposed amendment to the Pact for the Future adopted at the opening of the two-day Summit of the Future at UNGA based on “the principle of non-interference in matters within the domestic jurisdiction of a state” drew a negative response, he explained.

Permalink After F-35's Detected, Israel Preparing Large Surface-to-Surface Missile Launches at Iran

After the Russian government alerted Iran to the approach of four F-35 stealth jets toward Iran from the Persian Gulf yesterday, which reportedly caused an abort to that mission, Israel is now preparing surface-to-surface missile launches. | The Jericho II (YA-3) is a solid fuel, two-stage long-range ballistic missile system and a follow-on from the Jericho I project. As many as 90 Jericho 2 missiles are currently based in caves near Zekharia (Sdot Micha Airbase), southeast of Tel Aviv. Jericho II development began in 1977, and by 1986 there were reports of test firings. According to Missilethreat.com, a project of the George C. Marshall Institute, there is evidence that Jericho II originated as a joint Israeli-Iranian project, a cooperation that ended with the loss of friendly relations after the 1979 Iranian Revolution overthrew the Shah's rule. There was a series of test launches into the Mediterranean from 1987 to 1992, the longest at around 1,300 km, mostly from the facility at Palmachim, south of Tel Aviv. Jane's reports that a test launch of 1,400 km is believed to have taken place from South Africa's Overberg Test Range in June 1989.
