Finnish populace groomed for imminent NATO absorption
68% of Finns support the idea of the country joining NATO. | According to AZERTAC , this information was obtained based on the results of a survey commissioned by the Finnish TV channel MTV News. Overall, 68% of respondents supported the idea of Finland’s accession to NATO. Thus, support for the country’s membership in NATO is at a record level during the entire period of the survey. Earlier, Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said that his country would soon decide on the possibility of joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. He added that NATO member countries had offered their assistance to Finland in providing security during the application process. They estimate that the appeal can take anywhere from four months to a year. At the same time, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told reporters that Finland and Sweden are ready to join the military alliance if the relevant appeal is received.
