US moves to dismiss lawsuit against anti-Iran group
The US Justice Department has asked a judge to dismiss a lawsuit against an anti-Iran group on grounds that the case could reveal national secrets. ● Lawyers for the government moved Friday to invoke a powerful national security law to intervene in the private lawsuit by a Greek businessman against United Against A Nuclear Iran (UANI), arguing the proceedings could “cause harm to national security.” Victor Restis, Greek businessman and ship owner, sued the New York-based UANI for defamation last year after the non-profit group accused him of violating sanctions on Iran by exporting oil from the country.
