Permalink Barack Obama’s Secret Terrorist-Tracking System, by the Numbers

Nearly half of the people on the U.S. government’s widely shared database of terrorist suspects are not connected to any known terrorist group, according to classified government documents obtained by The Intercept. Of the 680,000 people caught up in the government’s Terrorist Screening Database—a watchlist of “known or suspected terrorists” that is shared with local law enforcement agencies, private contractors, and foreign governments—more than 40 percent are described by the government as having “no recognized terrorist group affiliation.” That category—280,000 people—dwarfs the number of watchlisted people suspected of ties to al Qaeda, Hamas, and Hezbollah combined. The documents, obtained from a source in the intelligence community, also reveal that the Obama Administration has presided over an unprecedented expansion of the terrorist screening system.

Russian Defense Minister Tells Troops "To Be In State Of Constant Battle Readiness" Having discussed his view that the Ukraine government is at fault for worsening the conflict, Russia's Putin explained to Angela Merkel that a "rising civilian toll has created a humanitarian crisis in Ukraine." However, it was Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu's comments that "the world has changed and changed dramatically," demanding that his troops "must be in constant combat readiness," are the most disconcerting as his strong tone in the following clip appears to confirm Poland and NATO's fears.

Permalink Family of Palestinian child burned to death: Israelis are the real Nazis

An Israeli court on Wednesday adjourned the hearings of the three Israeli settlers charged with burning alive Palestinian child Muhammad Abu Khdeir. The suspects were brought before court having neither their feet nor hands chained as is usually the case with Palestinian detainees, Muhannad Jbara, lawyer of Abu Khdeir family, said. Jbara told PIC in the wake of the adjournment decision: “The jury adjourned the decision on holding the second and third suspects in house arrest to August 13. The indictments will be heard in the official trial scheduled for September 9.” The lawyer further pointed to the state of anxiety that has prevailed among Abu Khdeir’s family throughout the court hearing. “You are Nazi criminals. We will prosecute you. We will appeal to the international criminal court whenever needed,” Abu Khdeir’s family vowed.

Permalink Let's do it again

xymphora Wikileaks has been a little late to the rodeo, but has been making up for it by mass tweeting about its dump of cables about Israel, including the one where Rice instructed Ban to neuter recommendations 10 and 11 in the UN General Assembly Board of Inquiry concerning the previous time when the Jews illegally attacked UN facilities in Gaza (in 2008-2009). Rice and Ban thus ensured that the previous attack would not be investigated, making the veritable orgy of Jewish attacks this time all the easier. Note that Ban was working with the Israelis on the text of the cover letter to ensure that the murderous and illegal Israeli actions would not be investigated!

Permalink 60% of Israelis say offensive against Gaza has failed

According to a new poll, more than 60 percent of Israelis believe a month-long offensive by Tel Aviv’s ground and aerial forces against the besieged Gaza Strip has failed to achieve its goals. The latest survey by the Israeli institute, Panels Politics, reveals that 66 percent of Israel’s public believes the war did not achieve its objectives. This comes as Israeli forces retreated from Gaza, claiming that they have achieved their objectives, including destruction of cross-border tunnels in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had earlier hailed the Gaza offensive as a success. However, the new poll shows most Israelis' view corresponds with that of the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, which says Tel Aviv failed to achieve its goals in its bloody attacks. Ismail Haniyeh, a senior leader of Hamas, says Palestinians were the victorious side of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip. Haniyeh made the remarks in a recent statement, saying the resistance fighters are the true winners of the Israeli regime’s invasion of the Palestinian territory. Israel has also kept tight reins on media outlets with regard to the exact number of Israeli soldiers captured or killed during its ongoing assaults on the coastal enclave. The rising death toll of Israeli forces during the attacks on the Gaza Strip had prompted growing opposition to the war among the Israeli public.
