Permalink Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: his outlandish largely fact-based 911/ WOT quotes

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran, has drawn international condemnation from israel, the US & friends for his claim that the September 11 terrorist attacks were a plot by the US government. Here is a selection of some of his most outlandish remarks. On the terrorist attacks of Sept 11 2001 – September 2010:

"Some segments within the American government orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy, and its grips on the Middle East, in order to save the Zionist regime. The majority of the American people as well as most nations and politicians around the world agree with this view."

On Osama bin Laden – May 2010:

"I heard that Osama bin Laden is in Washington DC ... Yes, I did. He's there. Because he was a previous partner of Mr Bush. They were colleagues in fact in the old days. You know that. They were in the oil business together. They worked together. Mr bin Laden never co-operated with Iran but he co-operated with Mr Bush."

Permalink Justice For 9/11 (1/2)

This interesting video takes a look at the culpability of some of the people who were responsible for preventing an attack such as 9/11. Even if we forget the mountain of evidence that shows that 9/11 was an inside job, the Bush administration should still be impeached and prosecuted for deliberately ALLOWING 9/11 to happen, and for the blatant cover up of their crimes. These criminals have also displayed what is referred to in the legal profession as "guilty demeanor", and so they should be investigated and suspended from duty at the VERY LEAST.

Permalink Obama at the UN: The arrogant voice of imperialism

President Barack Obama used his speech at the United Nations General Assembly Thursday to defend US wars and state terror abroad and to proclaim that the economic crisis has been resolved thanks to his Wall Street bailout. The US president received a noticeably tepid response from the assembled UN delegates. While in his first address to the body last year, he was able to pose as a fresh alternative to the crimes carried out by the Bush administration, by now it has become clear to most on the international stage that his administration’s policies are largely in continuity with those of its predecessor. In its tone and its content, the Obama speech was the authentic and arrogant voice of US imperialism.

Redress: Obama speaks at the UN... Goodbye to peace Alan Hart argues that US President Barack Obama’s speech at the United Nations demonstrates beyond doubt that he is not interested in a just solution of the Palestine-Israel conflict and is not prepared to declare openly and sincerely that the occupation must end.

Permalink Gilad Atzmon: On Gaza and Chutzpah

The UN probe into the Israeli massacre in high seas concluded yesterday that Israeli forces violated international law and showed ‘incredible violence’ when they raided a flotilla attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. The UN fact finding mission also argues that Israel's naval blockade of the Palestinian territory was unlawful because of the humanitarian crisis there, and described the military raid on the flotilla as ‘brutal and disproportionate.' According to the UN probe, there is "clear evidence to support prosecutions" against Israel for "willfull killing" and “torture”. One would expect that after a publication of such a harsh report, Israel would self reflect, repent and vow to change its attitude toward international law and humanism in general. Do not hold your breath, this is not going to happen.

Permalink Israel kills fisherman in Gaza

The Israeli Navy has shot and killed a Palestinian fisherman off the coast of the Gaza Strip currently under a crippling naval blockade. The victim identified as Mohammed Bakr died by a bullet shot in the sea north of the Gaza Strip, head of the Palestinian territory's emergency services, Adham Abu Selmiya, told AFP on Friday. An Israeli military spokeswoman claimed the Palestinian fisherman was in restricted waters "heading towards Israel." [Chutzpah! He was heading towards occupied Palestine. There is no 'israel'.]

The coastal enclave has been under siege since June 2007. Israeli Navy vessels regularly open fire on Palestinian fishing boats to prevent them from venturing more than a few kilometers from the shore. The 1.5 million impoverished people of Gaza are in dire need of supplies due to the blockade. Fishing remains a staple source of livelihood for the besieged people.

Permalink Is Gideon Levy the most hated man in Israel or just the most heroic?

For three decades, the writer and journalist Gideon Levy has been a lone voice, telling his readers the truth about what goes on in the Occupied Territories. Gideon Levy is the most hated man in Israel – and perhaps the most heroic. This “good Tel Aviv boy” – a sober, serious child of the Jewish state – has been shot at repeatedly by the Israeli Defence Force, been threatened with being “beaten to a pulp” on the country’s streets, and faced demands from government ministers that he be tightly monitored as “a security risk.” This is because he has done something very simple, and something that almost no other Israeli has done. Nearly every week for three decades, he has travelled to the Occupied Territories and described what he sees, plainly and without propaganda. “My modest mission,” he says, “is to prevent a situation in which many Israelis will be able to say, ‘We didn’t know.’” And for that, many people want him silenced.

Permalink British Queen 'tried to use state poverty fund to heat Buckingham Palace'

Ministers were asked if money earmarked for schools, hospitals and low-income families could be used to meet soaring fuel bills. The Queen asked ministers for a poverty handout to help heat her palaces but was rebuffed because they feared it would be a public relations disaster, documents disclosed under the Freedom of Information Act reveal. Royal aides were told that the £60m worth of energy-saving grants were aimed at families on low incomes and if the money was given to Buckingham Palace instead of housing associations or hospitals it could lead to "adverse publicity" for the Queen and the Government. Aides complained to ministers in 2004 that the Queen's gas and electricity bills, which had increased by 50 per cent that year, stood at more than £1m a year and had become "untenable".

Permalink Teresa Lewis executed in Virginia despite protests

Lethal injection given to Teresa Lewis, a woman with low IQ who plotted to kill her husband and stepson. Teresa Lewis died early today after being given a lethal injection at the Greensville correctional centre, the first woman to be executed in Virginia in almost a century. The execution went ahead despite protests from lawyers, international celebrities and others who argued that she should have been given clemency because of her low IQ. Under US law, anyone with an IQ of 70 avoids the death penalty. Lewis was judged to have an IQ of 72.

Permalink Iran to Build Own Air Defense System

Iran’s Defense Ministry said the country will produce its own advanced anti-aircraft missile system similar to the S-300 which Russia decided not to supply in compliance with international sanctions. We have planned to build a long-range air defense missile system similar to S-300,” Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi was quoted as saying by the state-run Mehr news agency in a report published on its website late yesterday. “By God’s grace and with Iranian engineers’ efforts, we will reach self- sufficiency.” Russia’s Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov said in an interview Sept. 20 that the decision not to deliver S-300 missiles to Iran was “dictated by a complicated military and political situation in the region and support of the United Nations sanctions against Iran.”

Truth Seeker Comment: As we have already noted, it’s not a question of if Iran can build an air defence system comparable to Russia’s S-300 missile system but when. Iran has recently shown itself quite capable in the design, development and manufacture of home-grown weapons systems, especially its missiles like the Sejil medium range ballistic missile and radar systems. So it’s not a question if Iran can build an air defence system comparable to the S-300 but when. It will undoubtedly take some time but Iran announced at the beginning of this year that it was already working on the development of such a system. So its development could be well underway. The only question is whether Iran can develop and deploy the system before the U.S. and/or Israel decide to launch their air strikes.

Permalink Jewish Congress defends Ottawa cartoonist

The Canadian Jewish Congress has come to the defence of a cartoonist accused by another Jewish group of anti-Semitism for drawing Parliament Hill's Peace Tower with a Star of David. The CJC's stand contrasts with the reaction of Jewish advocacy organization B'nai Brith Canada, which said the cartoon played into a dangerous stereotype that Jews control the government.

The drawing, published in Monday's edition of the Ottawa-based French-language newspaper Le Droit, shows Parliament Hill with a road sign signalling a slippery street ahead. The clock on the Peace Tower depicts a star resembling the Star of David.

B'nai Brith Canada issued a news release the same day describing the cartoon as shameful and outrageous.

Cartoonist Guy Badeaux countered that his illustration was being misinterpreted. He was only trying to depict the geometric designs on the clock face, which resemble a star, he explained. CJC chief executive officer Bernie Farber said he believes the explanation. "There is a Star of David on the face of the Peace Tower clock, there is. He has used it not for the first time in a caricature he has done," Farber said. "This has nothing to do with anti-Semitism and everything do with a cartoonist who was trying to depict the Peace Tower. It was very legitimate."

Permalink The Terrorism Fraud

"Terrorism" has become the most abused word in the English language. The fear of terrorism has driven explosive growth in the United States government, has led to two wars in the past ten years with possibly several more waiting in the wings, and has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. Terrorism is a tactic, not an enemy. It consists of attacking a largely civilian population to demoralize it and reduce its willingness to resist either an aggressor or an occupying power. It has been used extensively in the twentieth century and so far into the twenty-first century because it is a force equalizer. It enables a resistance movement or a group seeking a change in government to attack a much larger and more powerful opponent. Because it has that ability to engage asymmetrically, one can expect that terror tactics will continue to be with us for the foreseeable future.

Permalink Israelis Float Settlement Deal Involving Spy

Israeli officials have tried to float a trade-off in which they would extend the temporary moratorium on settlement construction in exchange for the release by the United States of Jonathan Jay Pollard, the American who pleaded guilty to spying for Israel and is serving a life term in an American jail, Israel’s Army Radio reported Monday.

We Hold These Truths: Israelis Float Settlement Deal Involving SpyThe Palestinian people are not represented at the "peace talks", or there would be no stories like this to confuse us because their negotiators, Mr. Fayyad and Mr. Abbas, serve not the people of Palestine but USA and Israel who keep them in office by force. They are seen on our TV, slick politicians in thousand dollar blue suits who rarely mention the real issue for the Philistines, stolen land, freedom, and an opportunity to live and feed themselves. ----This NY Times story is not candid in that is does not mention what it was that Jonathan Jay Pollard stole from the USA and delivered to Israel... atomic secrets used in making Israel a Nuclear power with hundreds or more active nuclear warheads.
