Are You Ready For Nuclear War?

Paul Craig Roberts

Pay close attention to Steven Starr’s guest column, “The Lethality of Nuclear Weapons.” Washington thinks nuclear war can be won and is planning for a first strike on Russia, and perhaps China, in order to prevent any challenge to Washington’s world hegemony.

The plan is far advanced, and the implementation of the plan is underway. As I have reported previously, US strategic doctrine was changed and the role of nuclear missiles was elevated from a retaliatory role to an offensive first strike role. US anti-ballistic missile (ABM) bases have been established in Poland on Russia’s frontier, and other bases are planned. When completed Russia will be ringed with US missile bases.

Anti-ballistic missiles, known as “star wars,” are weapons designed to intercept and destroy ICBMs. In Washington’s war doctrine, the US hits Russia with a first strike, and whatever retaliatory force Russia might have remaining is prevented from reaching the US by the shield of ABMs.

The reason Washington gave for the change in war doctrine is the possibility that terrorists might obtain a nuclear weapon with which to destroy an American city. This explanation is nonsensical. Terrorists are individuals or a group of individuals, not a country with a threatening military. To use nuclear weapons against terrorists would destroy far more than the terrorists and be pointless as a drone with a conventional missile would suffice.

Bilderberg Elite Gather in Denmark to «Circle their Wagons»

Wayne Madsen

It’s not easy these days being members of the world’s elite class of business tycoons, bankers, political leaders of various «neo»-ideology stripes, and «bought-and-paid for» members of the media. In the European elections, the people have spoken. What the European electorate had to say about the globalization promoted for years by the cabal of Bilderberg billionaires, politicians, and propagandists that gathers in different countries annually to plot their next moves is certainly not music to the ears of the elite.

«Bilderberg 2014» chose Copenhagen, Denmark as their venue for their annual «off-the-record» meetings and side chats that adhere to so-called «Chatham House Rule». Chatham House is the headquarters for the elitist Royal Institute of International Affairs (RIIA) in London, a well-known front for Britain’s MI-6 Secret Intelligence Service. The RIIA serves as Britain’s version of the powerful and U.S. intelligence-connected Council on Foreign Relations in New York. The Chatham House Rule states: «Participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed».

Among the topics on the Bilderberg agenda this year are those that put the global elites in a crisis mode. Considering the number of times former U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) directors and their corporate surveillance facilitators have attended Bilderberg meetings, it’s easy to see why NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden and his revelations about how the U.S. and other nations well represented at Bilderberg engage in wholesale invasions of personal privacy threaten the world’s elites. For that reason, the Bilderberg 2014 agenda poses the questions, «Does privacy exist» and «How special is the relationship in intelligence sharing?»

Obama heads to Europe for week of meetings directed against Russia

Patrick Martin

A major American goal at the G-7 meeting is to revive an atmosphere of confrontation.

President Barack Obama left Washington Monday night for a four-day trip to Europe, where he will seek to intensify the campaign against Russia that began with the US-backed and fascist-led coup in Ukraine in February. The trip will include Obama’s first face-to-face meeting with Petro O. Poroshenko, the billionaire oligarch who is to be inaugurated as the new president of Ukraine on June 7.

Obama meets Tuesday in Warsaw with Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski and Prime Minister Donald Tusk, then with a group of Eastern European officials, including representatives from Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and Slovakia. The following day he has a one-on-one session with Poroshenko.

The US president will also meet with American airmen deployed at a Polish air base and he will give a public speech marking the 25th anniversary of the first elections held after the collapse of the Stalinist regime in Poland.

Press reports suggest that Obama and Poroshenko will discuss direct US military aid to help the Kiev regime in its campaign to suppress opposition groups in eastern Ukraine, populated mainly by Russian speakers hostile to the ultra-right Ukrainian nationalists who now control the country’s government.

Washington has so far limited its aid to “nonlethal” supplies, including military rations, but may well use the May 25 presidential election—largely boycotted in the eastern third of the country—as the pretext for escalating its intervention in the Ukraine crisis by supplying weapons and ammunition as well as providing military training.
