They Will Get The Whole World Blown Up
Today former US Treasury official, Dr. Paul Craig Roberts, spoke with King World News about the ongoing danger the world faces because of the crisis in Ukraine. Dr. Roberts also warned “the Chinese government regards Washington as an insane asylum.” The interview ends with an ominous warning for the entire world. Below is what Dr. Roberts had to say in Part III of this remarkable series of interviews.

Eric King: How far will Putin go to defend those interests in Ukraine, and to put a stop to another set of missiles ending up in Ukraine? Is that going to be allowed, or does he have to put a stop to it?
Dr. Roberts: Putin has already said that he reserves the right to protect the Russian people in Ukraine as well as Russian strategic interests in Ukraine, and he means it. He wouldn’t say it if he didn’t mean it...
And there is nothing the U.S. can do about it on a conventional basis. We can’t put an army over there to engage the Russians that far away from our supply lines and expect to be on anything close to equal terms with the Russian Army.
Now if the moderates get back control of Ukraine, then Putin will arrange some deal with them. Putin has far more diplomatic skills than anybody we’ve got. He’ll try to arrange something that works for them both. But if this Ukrainian government agrees to have missile bases on the border, Putin may decide to simply occupy the territory. The Ukrainians wouldn’t be able to do anything about it and neither would the United States.
It will depend on how Putin sees the threat. It will also depend on whether he sees that the Americans have been chastened at all from their mistakes, or whether they remain as crazy as they show themselves to be.
As an example, Eric, the Chinese government regards Washington as an insane asylum. They think they’re completely insane. If Putin comes to this conclusion too, he may say, ‘OK, I’m not going to take any risk with these crazy people’ and simply occupy Ukraine.
Russia and Putin have been demonized because they’ve blocked the American attack on Syria and Iran. When they show up at meetings of the G8 or the G20, they are very forceful. They point out all of the mistakes and the lies that Washington tells. They do this in front of Washington’s allies, the Europeans.
Putin has asked them many times to their face, ‘When are you going to learn from your mistakes? Look at what happened in Iraq. Look at what you did in Libya. Look at the mess you’ve caused in Syria. When are you going to learn? When are you going to stop?’
You have to realize, Eric, that all of this affects the Germans, the Europeans, maybe not the British because they are such a bought-and-paid-for collection of scoundrels in that government, and this starts to weaken NATO. If you’re German, you’ve already had one experience with the Russians (laughter ensues) -- you don’t want another. And if you see the idiots in Washington leading you into conflict with Russia you ask, ‘What am I doing this for? This is not something I want to do again.’
But there is always a prospect that the arrogance and hubris of Washington will overtake common sense. Remember when Victoria Nuland, the assistant secretary of state, was on the telephone with the American ambassador in Ukraine, and they were talking about their coup and whom they were going to put in charge. The ambassador was talking about whom the Germans or the EU would like in charge, and Nuland says, ‘F*ck the EU.’ Well, this sort of arrogance toward your own allies isn’t amenable to them taking too many risks for you.
But the hope in this situation is that this breaks up NATO. The Americans are about to put another independent country and the birthplace of Joseph Stalin, Georgia, into NATO. So that would mean missile bases in Georgia as well. Georgia is in central Asia, between the Black and Caspian Seas.
If you remember, we put the Georgians up to attacking a Russian province a few years ago. We went in, trained the Georgian Army, equipped them, and set them loose, and the Russians wiped them out in two or three hours.
Well, NATO doesn’t want a madman in Georgia starting a war with Russia if it’s a NATO member because it involves them. So the NATO members might just say, ‘We don’t want anything more to do with this. These people are crazy and they are going to get the whole world blown up.’
