Ban Ki-moon Fails to Condemn Israeli Aggression

Stephen Lendman

Since last weekend, Israel attacked Syria multiple times. Doing so was premeditated, unprovoked aggression. Fundamental UN Charter provisions were violated. Israeli officials refused comment. For days, America was silent.

On January 30, anonymous US officials said Israeli officials informed Washington in advance. Make no mistake. All significant regional belligerent actions reflect joint US/Israeli policy. It's longstanding.

On January 28, Paul Joseph Watson headlined "Hacked Emails Reveal 'Washington-Approved' Plan to Stage Chemical Weapons (False Flag) Attack in Syria," saying: British security company Britam Defence admitted hacking "but denied that the emails released….were genuine." A German hacker supplied the leaked emails. Qatar's involved. At issue is crossing Obama's "red line." Doing so is cause for US/NATO intervention.

False flags are a US tradition. Israel prioritizes them. They're Big Lies, but who knows. Official reports and media scoundrels claim otherwise. They're pretexts for planned aggression. Longstanding US policy involves replacing Assad with subservient puppet leadership. So far, proxy war rages. Full-scale intervention may follow.

US officials, other Western ones, and Ban Ki-moon failed to condemn Israeli aggression. More on Ban below.

Israel’s bombing of Syria escalates threat of wider war

Bill Van Auken

Israel’s bombing of a Syrian military site on Wednesday has ratcheted up the danger that the Western-backed civil war in Syria will spill over into a broader regional conflagration.

Unnamed US officials cited by the New York Times claimed that the target of Wednesday’s dawn air strike was a military convoy carrying arms that were supposedly destined for Hezbollah, the Shia political movement and militia in Lebanon.

The Syrian government, however, said that air strikes were directed against a military research center in Jamraya, in the Qasioun mountain range about three miles west of Damascus. It said that two workers at the center were killed in the bombing and five others were wounded.

“Israeli warplanes violated our airspace at dawn today and directly struck one of the scientific research centers responsible for elevating the resistance and self-defense capabilities in the area of Jamraya in the Damascus countryside,” Syria’s military said in a statement published by the official Sana news agency.

The Syrian regime charged that the air strikes had been facilitated by coordinated attacks on the part of the US and Western-backed “rebels” against the country’s radar networks and air defense systems.

The real invasion of Africa is not news and a licence to lie is Hollywood's gift

John Pilger

A full-scale invasion of Africa is under way. The United States is deploying troops in 35 African countries, beginning with Libya, Sudan, Algeria and Niger. Reported by Associated Press on Christmas Day, this was missing from most Anglo-American media.

The invasion has almost nothing to do with "Islamism", and almost everything to do with the acquisition of resources, notably minerals, and an accelerating rivalry with China. Unlike China, the US and its allies are prepared to use a degree of violence demonstrated in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and Palestine. As in the cold war, a division of labour requires that western journalism and popular culture provide the cover of a holy war against a "menacing arc" of Islamic extremism, no different from the bogus "red menace" of a worldwide communist conspiracy.

Reminiscent of the Scramble for Africa in the late 19th century, the US African Command (Africom) has built a network of supplicants among collaborative African regimes eager for American bribes and armaments. Last year, Africom staged Operation African Endeavor, with the armed forces of 34 African nations taking part, commanded by the US military. Africom's "soldier to soldier" doctrine embeds US officers at every level of command from general to warrant officer. Only pith helmets are missing.

It is as if Africa's proud history of liberation, from Patrice Lumumba to Nelson Mandela, is consigned to oblivion by a new master's black colonial elite whose "historic mission", warned Frantz Fanon half a century ago, is the promotion of "a capitalism rampant though camouflaged".
